Drider statue (Warning: Bare-breasted artwork!)

Olgar approves. Because like cars, women are better ... ;)

Anyway, did anyone figure out the purpose of this statue? I'm curious to hear if something besides D&D (or maybe Greek mythology) inspired the particular piece.

And I'm with all y'all who find spiders with hands to be beyond creepy. I don't use areanae in my games bacause they creep me out.

Well, Japanese TV allows nudity, but not violence. It's the opposite of where I grew up (the states). My mom visited and was shocked that the kids swim nude in the river.

It's about the same here in Germany. You can often see topless women in the 6 pm magazines and erotic content in the 8pm movies. (Though I can remember that it was far stricter just a couple of years ago). No problem. Nudity at beaches is also no problem, and little children run around naked often, especially if it's hot.

But violence.... You can't watch a decent action movie on TV because everything violent enough that could shock a, say, 12 year old, will be cut out (and we're talking night programme here). It's even worse with computer games. If it involves killing people, it will be set on the Index and then it may not be sold to minors, may not be advertised for and may not be put on shelves. We even have localized versions where soldiers in RTS games are changed into robots (Command & Conquer anyone?).

Many US beaches are just fine for legal topless women. Oddly enough, at my local beach, topless is OK, but there is a law banning thongs. I think that is mostly for fat French Canadian asses :-).

Oops, did I say 'asses'? There might be a 12 year old reading this. I should really be ashamed.

What are donkeys doing at the beach?

That's no drider....

...it's LOLTH!!!!

AAUGH!! RUN!!!!!

Damn, you beat me to the punch. I was about to remark that now we know what Lolth did during her silence: she was modeling - and for naked magazines to boot.

I hear playboy wants to make a special edition "REAL Goddesses".

I've got the artist's statement from the gallery, and it's a little...erm...nutty. I'll scan it and post it here soon.

I was pretty amazed to discover that she's only 23! That's some amazing talent.

By the by, I wasn't expecting this to turn into a "OOH, BOOBIES!" thread. *sigh* I guess I was hoping people would marvel at the art more than the nudity. After all, there are many better places on the Net to find boobies. ;)

Does she do mermaids? Or tauric octofolk? Mind you, it's not that far a drive from Greensboro. ;)

It is a wonderful sculpture, but I find some folks' reaction to the sight of breasts to be much more entertaining.

This thread reminds me of that 85-year-old woman that wants to sue Rock Star games because she bought her grandson GTA:SA, without knowing about the Hot Chocolate easter egg. Sooo...shooting someone in the head and taking his ride is okay for the 14-year-old, just don't show any sex. :\

Anyway, that statue is kewl beans. I agree with Dave, it's Lolth, and she's bored because she hasn't gotten around to skinning any elves alive yet today.

Wow. That is amazing. The detail is incredible, I want it in my den. It would make for a interesting conversational piece. :p
