I'm a home brewer, and I always have four beers on tap at my house. So if we play at my house, the pitchers flow freely. Since it's my beer, my guests are usually gracious enough to have at least one.
"gracious?" jeez, Sean, you make the best beer EVAR. We drink one. pitcher. for. each. of. four. types. of. beer.

We rarely get to play at Sean's house because suddenly there are babies cropping up here and there, so we tend to get anchored to other houses. :\

I voted 'Yes. Sometimes'. Which is odd, because I attribute a large portion of my beloved homebrew World of CITY to the Paulaner and Maker's Mark that the respective creators drank in a bar whilst creating it.

And few years ago, when our games were exclusively in Philly, my answer would have been 'always', and 'more than was prudent', seeing as everyone walked or took mass transit.

I ran a memorable session that began with me, the DM, downing three shot of Tullamore Dew in rapid succession because of a particularly stressful day at work.

And my screen-namesake character Mallus couldn't be played properly unless I was quite literally full of gin.

But a few subsequent years of gaming exclusively in the 'burbs has cured me of the drink while gaming, more effectively even than a tincture of opium mail-ordered from the Sear and Roebuck catalog.

My game is back in the city now, but with people who either don't drink or need to drive, so my drinking and gaming will be limited to the occasional nip from the bottle of Patron Anejo I have in the cabinet in case of an accute lack of imagination...

Sure. When we play, it's a social gathering, and liquor is allowed. We usually have water, coffee, soda, and alcohol on-hand. Mostly beer, but sometimes wine coolers, wine, or liquor. We don't get drunk.

I like single malt scotch. However, it doesn't work well with role-playing, because I DM and have to talk all the time. Since I typically hold the malt in my mouth and roll it over my tongue, that doesn't work well with RPGs (speaking while retaining the single malt in your mouth is an art form we call "speaking whisky").

Single malts, cigars, and wargames seem to go together very naturally, on the other hand.

Once in a great while I'll have a beer (at most two) during a game. I feel like getting drunk would not be the best idea during a game though.

... Bushmills whiskey ...

Although I love Bushmills, particularly the 16 y.o. and 21 y.o., I prefer Redbreast. You should definitely try it if you come across it.

My all-time favourite whiskey, though, is the Midleton.

My local pub won't serve Bushmills, as the owner feels it comes from the wrong part of the island. :p They have Jamesons 1780, though, which is a cut above standard Jamesons. I've had Redbreast once -- an excellent Irish whiskey.

Pretty much always. Most of us drink beer (Grolsch mostly)
One of my players named his character Grolsch...it's actually not a bad name, for a Part-Orc.

I don't drink at every session, but now and then a beer or three go down quite nicely. And once in a while...maybe once a year...we'll have what we call a "drunken dungeon", where everyone gets a little smashed. Sometimes the characters suffer; but so what, if we're all having fun...

Our crew is approaching our 7-year anniversary of gaming once a week, and we haven't had a single session without beer. We even have a designated beer fridge. On the rare occasion we run out of beer before the half-way point of the evening, we take a break to make a beer run. We've also had wine and liquor on occasion, but not as often.

That being said, the average age in the group is 30-ish, and we drink socially, not to get drunk. I myself only have 2 or 3 per six-hour session on average, and we also have dinner during that time. We've had a couple of nights during that time when someone drank more than normal and made some tactical combat mistakes because of it, but we've never had any real trouble because of drinking.

Each week, on my way to the game, I pick up a six-pack. Has anyone else ever been in the beer aisle and noticed how many beers have D&D-related names? Off the top of my head, I have seen Rogue Ale, Wizard's Winter Ale, Hobgoblin Dark Ale, and I know of a half-dozen others.
