I don't mind beer or a nice liquor when I'm playing. I try not to get hammered. :uhoh:

I've gotten stoned a few times and I don't recommend it at all, I would rather avoid it completely at the table.

By and large I'm stone cold sober when I DM, except for that one time... :p

Back in the 90's when we (our group) was mostly in our mid twenties we drank a few beers each during gaming. Now we rarely ever do as we are in our thirties. Summer is the one exception. More brews are brought out then. (no AC in the hobby room).

Voted never. I don't drink at all and so I don't let it in my house (it's where we game). However if it wasn't my house I'd go by their house rules.

I find that alcohol and gaming never mix. It always seemed to end up with no one paying attention. Everybody being waaaayy too silly and the like. Being silly and giggly is fine, just not every time.

We drink, a few of us smoke (outside), and we eat snack food as well. I guess we are just one big vice.

(it should go without saying that we don't get drunk... you cannot D&D drunk.)

Same with us. A couple of us have tried to D&D drunk, but it is a truth that you cannot.

For me, gaming is an intellectual exercise.
Funny, I feel the same way about drinking.

For me, gaming is f****ing around, albeit with a codified rule set. And (usually) elves.

I'd think it was weird if people wanted to drink heavily while we were playing Monopoly (tm) as well.
What about Risk?

I ran my most recent D&D session while tipsy. This resulted in the appearance of an NPC named "Grim the Reeber." The mockery has not yet entirely faded. :p

We gamed with a guy that would drink beer at the table, and another that would go out and lite one up, but they are both (thankfully, and not for their habits) long gone.

Way back in my youth we'd get together and drink ourselves unconscious, but when I realized that I was becoming my father (and after a few incidents) I stopped. THat was in another age though.

Treebore would once in a while have a glass of wine for his stomach, but he (unfortunately) is no longer at our table. :\

All that is left, none seem even the slightest of interested (thankfully) in drinking.

I wonder how your local pub owner would feel if he knew that the same French company owned Bushmills and Jamesons...ooh, I stand corrected! Pernod-Ricard sold Bushmills to DIAGEO in October 2005, the parent company of Guinness.
Disgusted, probably. I'll have to mention it to him. :p
