[DRM] - Put your money where your mouth is!

I've spent a lot of money at RPGNow. I'll continue to shop at RPGNow, when there's something else I want to buy and can afford. I don't think I'll pay DTRPG for the privilage of being annoyed by [pick one of any number of reasons]. RPGNow doesn't have to worry about my money going elsewhere.

I've got a question... I don't have access to a color printer with duplexing capability (well, I do but my employer would be VERY disappointed in little old me using it to print non-work related PDFs). Has anyone gone to Kinkos (or any other copy shop) with a PDF burned to CD and had it printed out for them? I know that in ages past before I had my own copier/scanner that I'd go in with character sheets to copy and the Kinkos employees questioned me about whether or not I was copying copyright protected material. Better yet, is there a website for a business that you can send the PDF to and then they'll print it, bind it, and ship it to you? If not, anyone can feel free to take that idea and run with it as long as I get free copies. :)

To sum it up...
1) Will most copy shops print out PDFs brought in on CD?
2) Is there an on-line company that will print, bind, and ship to you PDFs that you send to them?

I've done this, and it turned out great. Normally I'll just print them on the ol' laser printer at work, but I really liked the Book of Hallowed Might so I wanted a good copy. The local copy shop printed it out, complete with a plastic 'comb' binder and beautiful color on front and back. Whole process cost me $8.

Best bet is to call the local copy shops and ask if they can handle it. Note that this would be impossible with a DRMed pdf.

I'm right there with ya' - I just now bought En Route, which is a print product made into a PDF after it lived its run on the shelf. It is OOP, as I recall.

And I won't share it illegally.

Just proves the point that people will buy print products in PDF form, and that they will be honest about it. Even without the laughable security of DRM.

Furthermore, it was a wonderful buying experience. Took me only a few minutes. The website loaded quickly and without any broken images (although I will say that RPGNow's website design, while functional, isn't anything spectacular to look at.).

I'll take function any day of the week. :)

I just purchased the pdf version of A Magical Medieval Society: Western Europe. I've been meaning to get it, and $10 for the pdf sounds like a good price.

(Of course, I bought a couple mods yesterday from DTRPG, so I don't know how much I'm helping the cause! )

I"ve never tried it, but RPGNow has a print-on-demand option for some (AFAIK) very few of it's products.

I had Blood and Fists as well as Blood and Space printed at my local Kinko's, no questions, no problems.

I've been buying pdfs for awhile now... hard to remember all of them off the top of my head, but I do know that rpgobjects gets most of my pdf money.. legends of excalibur + darwins world 2 = money well spent.

Also that new mini-location the valley of the frozen tears is a great pickup for $5. Detailed area, nice maps, will probably use it in conjuction with the Shining Marches FR book I just amazon'd.
