I dont understand the response?
I think Nightfall means that if you're good at fighting everything, then you're really not focused on being good vs. the one foe, so you wouldn't be a foe-hunter. If you're a foe-hunter, then obviously you're better vs. the one foe than others.

My point was that making yourself really good against an enemy via taking lots of levels in a class is only useful if you expect to face a lot of those monsters. In a standard campaign where the DM throws a wide variety of monsters at you, i wouldnt advise taking such a PRC.

Leg,

Yeah well good roleplaying is one thing. Being useful for the party is clearly another.

Shilshen,

Thanks for the assist.

Drow-slayer PrC? You called?

Was I dreaming or is there a Anti-Drow Elven perstige class? Maybe in Dragon? I seem to remeber a prestige class of this nature out there and have a character that I would like to work into such a class. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Ahh!! Greetings young would-be Drow-slayer! I know the PrC you're thinking of, it was in Dragon back when 3.0 was still pretty fresh and new. Had alot of crappy abilities that didn't focus on the slaying of Drow (although it did have a spiffy ability called Drowbane). The Foe-hunter is similarly flawed.

Your best bet is the Sworn Slayer from Dragon 324.

Also, don't forget the Darkwood Stalker in Complete Warrior.. Just file off the serial numbers.. Replace the requisite "Speak Language: Orc" with Undercommon, apply the class bonuses vs drow instead of orcs, and there you go.

On the other hand, a PrC specifically for a drow foe would probably have some things more tailored to them - like applying favored enemy bonuses to penetrate drow spell resistance, immunity to poison and such.

I clearly remember a drow foe prestige class in the earlier 3.0 issues of Dragon, too.. I might peek through my collection..

edit - Dragon 279 contains the Ancestral Avenger PrC by Monte Cook. It does grant several appropriate things, like poison resist, improved spell penetration, and improved damage vs drow on the lines of +1 att +1d6 dam at first level. This class make you spank drow, spiders and even demons.. :).

Thanks both DrowBane and Wavestone!

Wavestone, Ancestral Avenger is indeed the class I was thinking of, I just didn't look thru the issues far enough back. The drow on the cover might have given it way. I like the class but I think that DrowBanes Sworn Slayer suggestion might be the better route to go. In sworn slayer I will more quickly gain attack bonuses against Drow and the Nemesis Feat after three levels is HUGE! As for Ancestral Avenger, I'm not sure what I would do with the third level ability overcome spell resistance as my character is currently a Rouge. Also the progression to gain attack bonuses is much slower. The gains would be better will save more damage. However, the really cool abilities like Drowic Change, Demon Bane and SR don't kick in till 7th, 9th and 10th levels and by then my character will be about 14th-18th level. I'm sure I can find better ways the accomlish these gains. Besides, Sworn Slayer just has a cooler sounding ring to it. Rannos, Sworn Slayer of Drow!

Thanks again guys! Good Memories
