do you think that it would make mid-high level druids too strong if they could take a feat that would allow them to take on the bipadel hybrid lycanthrope forms? I mean, sorcerors can do it at level eight and wizards can do it at level seven. maybe the prerequisite should be wild shape (large) or something.

another question, when spell casters polymorph themselves using templates, do they gain the stated strength, constitution, and dexterity modifiers?

Not sure about the template question.

If you concider midlevel (an arbitrary term) 7-12 then not at all, compare the stats to the largest animal they can become.

Most DMs would choke on their beer (or coke if still under age) and after you gave the heimlich maneuver would tell you that they aren't letting you polymorph into a template.

But technically, under the rules, yes, you get the stated new strength, con and dex mods.

when I checked, the template bonuses are the same as if taken from the large animals: tiger, brown bear, etc. It is obvious that they shouldn't get the damage reduction and lycanthrope curse, but just the feats. That would make it so that they are using large animal forms, just that they are bipedal:D . However, I do see how the stat bonuses and not just set stats could make them overpowering.

Am I the only sane person here?

No you can't and you shouldn't be allowed to Wild Shape into bipedal lycanthrope form because it is not an animal at all, it's disease and a curse.

just because its a curse doesn't mean its natural. I think the ability should be allowed, but perhaps with different bonuses or something like that. I had something in mind from diablo 2. I know there are spells for that, but it isn't the same.

No, I was actually hoping the that ignoring this would make it go away.

However, for the spirit of the thread. It's too powerul to allow a Druid to get this form through a feat. Maybe two feats. One that allows an additional form you have access to. The second would allow you to pick lycantrope as the extra form. Plus have a prereiqute of being able to form a Dire animal for the first feat and to form an elemental as a prerequite for the second feat. .

I'm in agreement with this. I don't think it's natural. I'm pretty sure the fact that it's a curse makes it unnatural. Curses don't occur naturally in the wild.

sorry, i typed it wrong, I believe that it is natural. How is it unnatural to be one animal (or humanoid) and transform into another. The only reason it is a curse is because it is almost uncotrolable if you become aflicted.
