Dude Where's My Ring? (DM: garyh, Judge: Ozymandias79)

Mikara hears Kamotz's request and hurries to his position. Sniffing the air, she looks around for anything unusual.

[sblock=Skill Check:]Perception = 1d20+10+2 = 16 (Morvannon. I think IC is picking favorites) [/sblock]

Mikara is able to determine that the footprint was made several days ago, and that the traveler was moving swiftly, without care of if they were leaving a trail. (Nature success)

Magnus is able to guess that, perhaps, the woman was moving so recklessly because she was being pursued. If so, where they prints lead might not be where the traveler was originally intending to go. (Insight success)

Vrrsk't continues to be distracted, and his observations are superficial at best. (Perception aid another unsuccessful)

Morvannon easily sets the pace for the group, and not only keeps himself moving, but is able to keep the other party members moving without being fatigued as well. (Endurance success)

Kamotz's paranoia about the foliage is actually helpful when the shifter points out a tree to Mikara that has some broken, low-hanging branches. (success with Perception aid another)

Mikara examines the tree, and it further supports the evidence she and Magnus have found indicating flight along this path. (Perception success)

OOC: Mikara's unsuccessful Insight check was to aid another, which doesn't count as a success or failure in the overall skill challenge. Further, it was made before Kamotz had acted for the round. So I'm just going to not worry about it...

You're now down to do or die time on this challenge! Anyone but Mikara can act next. Feel free to Aid another before the actual check.

Skill Challenge: Navigate the Starkreach Woods to track Dennis and Gwendolyn.
Complexity 5 (Requires 12 successes before 3 failures)
Primary skills: Nature, Perception
Secondary skills: Endurance, Insight

11 Successes, 2 Failures.

Ah enworld is gasping for air again. Live..LIVE!

Suggestion we either assist Kamotz with a insight check or assist Magnus with a nature check. Since we're so close it would be a shame to blow it now.

*hey. look at that.*
*Look at what?*
*that bush*
*...It's a bush. What?*
*mudhead. tell the dwarf, then*

Morvannon sighs and gestures to Magnus. "Is there something unusual about that bush there?"

[sblock=OOC]Nature check (+0) to aid Magnus: 15. I think that's the third 15 IC has given me in this challenge. Not that I'm complaining![/sblock]

Kamotz sniffs around the base of the bush, prodding with his scythe, before looking back at Magnus,
Look inside the bush as well.

Kamotz takes his scythe and gently manipulates the foliage, exposing spiraling branches behind the screen of leaves.

I'm sure you could make something of this...

Indeed it seems as if there's something there,
But, just in case, an answer I'll prepare
to help the dwarf should his keen senses fail
to unravel this riddle's flimsey veil.

Magnus crouched down next to the bush, inspecting it the with the sort of serious scrutiny a scholar might reserve for a rare tome. Eyes slowly rolling in their sockets as they traced the patterns of the bark and trails of branches.

A sign...a sign...Hehehe...put to flight...succumb to the forest's will...lost their way...gained Another's...

Standing up suddenly he turned around in a slow circle before finally stumping off in a particular direction. He moved along as a the land directed him at a slow sure pace, the path of least resistance, trying to read the subtle clues of how the forest might push one's heading this way or that.

A refuge...a refuge...where did the ring seek refuge...

Nature (1d20+8+2+2=21)

while we're at it, do we have any notion of what put them to flight?

Vrrsk't follows along dutifully as the others determine the location of those they are hunting. The altercation with the elf and tree over with, he seems lost in himself, occasionally mumbling half-heartedly to himself as he scans the woods for danger.

He thinks about ways to help the others in their search, but can't come up with anything.

[sblock=All I do is Roll low]1d20+2
Nature check to either (fail to) Aid Magnus retroactively, or to simultaneously pass and fail the Skill Challenge, though I'd prefer the former. :)

Sorry for the delay.. my dsl modem apparently did not have enough Lightning resistance. :/[/sblock]
