Thanks rounser!

As a separate question, is every issue from now on going to have a subscriber's bonus? And can you really not get that section in the newsstand copies? I find it hard to believe that they'd make different print runs (with bonus and without) that way, since that seems like it'd cost them more. I ask because my subscription will run out (if I calculated it right) with the August issue, and it's going to be very close if I can renew by late July.

What are the Critical Threat features/sections about? I haven't read Dungeon in quite some time, but am nonetheless intrigued by the name since it's been my Custom Title for almost a year. Furthermore, several of you have indicated your distaste for the features, and have thus piqued my interest.

I wish that Dungeon was only adventures as well. I also wish that they would get rid of Polly and put a world specific adventure in every other issue. Not just the old TSR worlds, but Freeport, Scarred Lands, and Iron Kingdoms too.

I wish Dragon had World specific content, too. (other than FR.)

Most of the critical threats have been a specific monster or NPC (or occasionally a pair), sometimes with their lair -- good for an encounter or parhaps a recurring character. Most have had some background, and been a combination of races, templates, and class levels. It saves some work if that's specifically what you're looking for, if not it's 1-2 pages of filler.

I'd rather have the Critical Threats than no page count, since if you deleted them from an issue you might not get enough room for a side trek, unless it was really short. Given the choice between a Critical Threat and a Side Trek, though, I'll take the Side Trek -- though it may depend upon what they have available to print.

I agree

I also agree with the majority of the posters and would like to see more solid adventures then piddly NPC write-ups or those little "mystery maps" that I cannot even really use (I am not talking abour the fold-up poster maps, just the little one-pagers with no attached adventure).

One thing that would really be great is to be able to get the maps and "handouts" that may come with an adventure online somewhere, but I can sure understand them not having the space or resources to host that stuff for free.

Otherwise they did have some cool stuff in this dungeoun...i especially liked the pic of the beast with the "citadel" on its back...neat drawing. I can understand how that would inspire someone...it maybe going into my Moonshae game...perhaps under the control of some orcs...maybe even the fiendish kind...

Well, I guess I do not mind Poly being there if it is necessary for the magazine's survival as the publisher has said.

I seem to recall several issues where they had two or three page side treks. However, if it is between a one page critical threat and one less page - I guess I would take the critical threat. I believe the issue really is a matter of working hard to bring us tightly written side treks or just throwing in another NPC.

Naturally, it's much easier to whip out an NPC than a quality adventure idea. I think a more useful short one-page feature would be a complete outline of an adventure. Call it frameworks or something like that.

Quick question, is the Lich Queen herself statted there?

Vlaakith the Lich-Queen, Female Githyanki Lich Wiz 25 (in short). She gets almost two pages of description and her combat tactics.

And to the discussion here, I like the Critical Threats/Agents and Allies.

The view from the other side: I'd prefer more critical threats (and allies) and fewer adventures, as I enjoy creating my own adventures but hate creating NPCs and, to a certain extent, maps.

Yes, but you can pull what you want from an adventure. The reverse is not true for me, and many others apparently.
