Dungeon #150

Hence my decision to never support WOTC's "electronic initiative" to replace this great magazine.

If they do a print version, I'll likely change my mind. But electronic? Never.

Same goes for Dragon.

Man, this depresses me. :(

Well, OK ... but if the electronic magazine format fails, we shouldn't expect the print magazine to return. The modern print magazine business is much, much more expensive to start up in today than it was in 1976, and if Wizards were to try to resume print operations a year from now, that's what they would be regarded as: a new magazine.

I think the best approach is to check out what Wizards offers, while supporting offshoots like Kobold Quarterly and Pathfinder - it might not be what we're used to, but it's what we've got. But hey, it's your money, and I respect that. :)

Shawn

I agree.

I may be upset at the magazine loss, but damn it, I am going to get my D&D fix no matter where it goes (unless it's 4E, in which case WotC loses a customer for life). I'm a sucker for new prestige classes, rules, feats, spells, and material like Demonomicon, Class Acts, and Forgotten Realms material. If what WotC is stating is true (that they will offer this and MORE due to the fact there's no "page space" limitations) then I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt and try this DI for awhile.

Since they said they're trying to be more in touch with their customers, I believe everyone who tries DI has the power to change it to their liking since WotC is going to rely on US (yes, all of us!) to help make it better!

Lands of Mystery Poster Map, by Christopher West
Ah, this will be nice.
Editorial: Signing Off, by James Jacobs
Goodbye James, until Pathfinder that is.
Kill Bargle, by Jason Bulmahn
Ah, good. I'm a (relativly) new player, and I haven't had a chance to build up a hat for him.
Quoth the Raven, by Nicolas Logue
Just plain out cool. Love the series.
Prince of Demons, by Greg A. Vaughn
Ohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygod*breath* BOOYA!

No more needs to be said. Screamed maybe, but not said.
Complete Dungeon Index, by Christopher Perkins and James Jacobs
Nice, I've been waiting a long time to get this. This issue is awsome. I'm really happy!
This is, quite simply, the only Dungeon index you'll ever need.
And now I come back down. I didn't want it that bad. :(
Dungeoncraft: Designing Mysteries That Last, by Wolfgang Baur
Oh, looks like I could use this one.
The City: Bar Fight!, by James Lafond Sutter
Ah, might be good with the barfighting cardgame Wizards is coming out with.
The Dungeon: The Godtrap, by F. Wesley Schneider
Had to sneak that Greyhawk in there, didn't you. :]
Critical Threat: Fiend-Sage, by Sean K Reynolds
Yes! I remeber him from my some of my earliest issues! I made some nasty spells based on the names he gave out.
Wandering Monster: Dergholoth, by Todd Stewart
Shemmy, if you weren't a physical representation of pure evil in furry, crossdressing package, I would have your babies.
Cartoons - The Portent, by Peter Bergting; and Downer, by Kyle Stanley Hunter.
Poor Downer, cut short in his prime. :(
Dungeon Delve, Part Three, by Christopher West.
And finally, on the very last page, is a depiction of several of Dungeon's most memorable faces, surrounded by the signatures of the staff.
Hum, sounds interesting.
Thanks to everyone who's ever worked on Dungeon, or had material published in it, for all that you gave.
Oh yes, thank you! Don't worry about my money, you already have it. ;)
Goodbye Dungeon. You took a little, eight year old kid, and made him stick with a game he really liked, a game he would grow to love, dispite not having someone to play it with. You let him know that he wasn't alone in playing, and gave him hope for his hobby. I think I may have been the last generation that was touched like that by you. I didn't have internet, I have you and your brother, Dragon. And I didn't want to trade you, but I don't have a choice.
Dungeon, I thank you for you laughs, good-natured and evil, RB style, for you awws of coolness and nastyness, for everything you have given me. I don't know where I'll go in my imagination without you, but I am glad I'll have your little brother Pathfinder to help me. Goodbye.

I'm really saddened that Dungeon ends here. But I'm quite pleased with what the final issue has to offer, and I'm very much looking forward to Pathfinder!

You've got 150 already.

Pity us poor UK/European subscribers - we're still waiting for 149. :(

We are? I've had my copy for 3 weeks now, picked it up at my FLGS here in Taunton. Glad I'm not a subscriber if you're still waiting for your copy.

Hence why I will be heading to the mall later to locate Dungeon #149 and #150 and purchase them. :D

had 149 a while....will get my 150 next week sometime i hope

On the 'Bargle' front, and in an utter-metagame retentive moment that has lasted 25+ years....how did Bargle kill Aleena with a single magic missile?!?!??!

MM in BD&D does d6+1 damage.
She had cast at least 2 spells in the story so she was at least 3rd level?? Dont recall she was injured so had 3d6+CON bonus hit-points??

any thoughts??!?1

Was she full health when it hit her? He could've bashed her around for fun for awhile and then later, before she was fully healed, got smacked by the magic missile?

I thought it was a flame arrow that got her, though in hindsight I have slept about 6000 times since then so my recollection may not be exact.

Also, were her hit points given? IIRC, you didn't get max hps at first level (at least by default) in BD&D.
