[Dungeon] Dungeon/Polyhedron Goes Monthly

Beginning with the May issue of Dungeon/Polyhedron (#98), we will be reducing the cover price from $7.99 to $6.99 and will appear monthly thereafter.
Well, as one who have advocated separating the two, I'm cool with this decision. Heck, I may even decide to subscribe directly.

Dung/Poly going monthly AND with equal coverage?

YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES. OH MY GOD, YES. Now maybe I can stop whining about the lack of Poly material. Now to my questions;

Will it still be in the flip book format which I hate with a passion?

Will the cover art still be over-used like it has been? I see the point of using the cover art twice, but to use the same piece of art three times in one magazine is dumb and wastes space that can be used for something else.

Will the subscription price be the same and if not, what will the new price be?

Wow

I like it. I've dropped my subscriptions fro Dungeon and Dragon, mostly because I got confused by all the notices saying my subscriptions were ending, when I knew they weren't.

When they finally did end, and I got the end notice, I just chucked it away from pure habit.

But this'll make me pick up subscriptions again!

Oh and by the way

I don't like the flipside thing either. I would have liked the split, but I'll go along for the ride.

Monthly? That’s good. How about bi-weekly? But seriously, I think that this is a good change. I have been very happy with the Polyhedron contents, especially the mini-games. For several years, (from issue 2 on into the 40’s) I got Dungeon regularly but stopped simply because I never had the time to run the adventures that I thought were worth running. It was actually the Polyhedron material that made me decide to subscribe.

Having a venue for support of D20M and Star Wars is great. Now all I need are submission guidelines.

Regarding the flipping thing, I’m split on the idea. While there are some good points to it, I see some bad as well.

I don't understand why folks are complaining. you are giving us more magazine as I understand it. I can not argue with that. sounds good to me.

In reading through the posts I'm seeing very few complaints actually. I mentioned that it will be a bit more spendy, but then it looks like we'll be receiving about the same amount of content every month as we do from Dragon for a very similar price. Actually Dragon is priced at $5.99 for 100 pages, but as I said before, I find the material in Dungeon to be more useful to me, so I don't have a problem with a price increase. In fact I've always been willing to shell out more money for something that is more beneficial to me. I especially like the idea of having an extra adventure that only subscribers get.

One thing I find cool is that I had a year subscription to Star Wars Gamer, which was, of course, cancelled. I had the two issues I wouldn't receive added to my Dungeon subscription. This also extends my subscription by another 2 issues, so I'll be getting 1/3 of a year beyond the original number I signed up for. Granted, I paid for 2 of those issues, but it does save me from having to resubscribe for a few months.

I prefer the flipside. That way I can stack my magazine with the Polyhedron cover side up. I don't like having to go to the middle of the magazine just to start reading the preferred half of the issue.

Besides, it would spark another debate: Who should be in the front or first half of the combined magazine? If that is the case, I have no choice but to vote for Poly on the front.

This is good news. After letting my subs for both lapse last year I just signed up again for Dragon (Gift Cert @ Borders.com)...and now for sure I'll be be going for Dungeon too.

Thanx!
