The poll shows some Grognard resistance, but the most hostile reactions I have seen seems to be the kids over on the wizards boards.

They swallowed their dogma, then learned it was replaceable.

Another innacurrate poll. No option other than YES! or NO!

37, started with BECMI. Have played every edition and enjoyed them all. I am undecided about 4e. Some things I think I will like, others not so much. I voted not liking it because I feel most folks on the fence will vote for liking it. Just trying to bring some balance.

Ah, the hazards of being a fanboy, believing that the corporation loves you when all they really love is your dollar...

It appears we've discovered a correlation between age and resistance to change.

Someone call Nature.

The numbers don't support your conculsion either. As, what I see is that at better then 70% ALL age groups are positively inclined toward D&D 4th. This hardly shows a resistance to change.

So much for Grognardism.

Of course, it also shows that WOTC may be losing 30% of their D&D players, without any guarantee they'll be able to get kids raised on MMORPGs interested in tabletop play.

From a sales point of view, that's a catastrophe. If your customer base shrinks to 70% of what it was, it's time to seriously re-think your business model.

Aside from the fact that WOTC may have better market data than we have, the real question for them is how many more books was left in the current edition. I suspect not many, so the 70 % making the switch is a gain and some of that 30% may be won over in time.

The kicker question is can they grow the market, I dunno.

Any I am looking forward to 4e, and I started with red box basic.

29. 2e was the first table top version I played (my first D&D experience was the old gold box Pool of Radience) and I am cautiously optamistic about 4e.

They should talk to White Wolf. :)

Interesting enough there are more in the older crowd that don't like what they're seeing for 4e. Even still the majority are still liking what they see of 4e :)
