Sonofa- I have it listed on half a dozen character sheets from 1E but its not in the PHB. Maybe its in Dungeoneers Survival Guide? I only had a DM use ear seekers against me once, ONCE!. lol

It was in a Dragon Magazine article from the 1980's (it's on the Digital Archive, but I don't have it handy) - it described new thief equipment and that very wire mesh cone was in the story intro to the article!

(In it, the master thief teaching the apprentice thief shows the apprentice the hard way how handy the cone is, and is in cahoots with the guild clerics for the cost of cure diseases that the apprentices pay after his "lesson"...

After seeing more stuff from Rip, I'm sure this book is better than some other environmental books. Well better than Sandstorm for sure.
