Duskblade, missing spells and W.P.'s

I am sure this has been covered before, as these problems are gaping, glaring holes, but these forums have no search ability.

I think that the search is a function that you can use when you upgrade to a Community Supporter Account.

It took me a bit to realize it too. It would have been nice to reprint that list on that table as well, with an asterisks to mark it as a PHB spell.

First the PHB2 is a very poorly done book, it looks like WoTC is just cranking stuff out to make money with no regard to quality. It's absurd to think Duskblades do not have simple weapon prof since they have martial. And as others have pointed out the spell list is in a horrible place.

Now to address this issue.

Both a light shield and the buckler leave the "shield" hand free for you to move your weapon to that hand as a free action... cast your spell, and then move your weapon back to your "weapon" hand. Of course... the above will be contested shortly..

You can cast with your free hand but changing your weapon to your sheild hand is a move action.

In a previous column, the Sage ruled that switching
weapons from one hand to the other should take a move
action. My group and I thought that seemed pretty long,
since it’s only a free action to drop something. Why can’t
you just drop it into your other hand?
It’s not really true that switching weapons from one hand to
another is just like dropping a weapon. When you drop a
weapon, you’re releasing it and letting it drop to the ground,
with no real guidance (or attention) as to exactly where it lands.
Switching a weapon from one hand to another is certainly more
complex than simply dropping it. At the very least, switching
hands would require you to use one hand to take the weapon
from the other and at most it involves using both hands together
in a coordinated action. Either way that sounds a lot like
drawing a weapon, which is a move action. When you simply
drop a weapon, you don’t really care where it lands, and it
doesn’t require you to use the other hand to guide the action.

As per the FAQ switching a weapon to the other hand is a move action, I would assume one that can be done as part of another move action like drawing a weapon.

But, you can cast spells with the hand that is free with the light sheild or buckler.
A cleric should never have a heavy sheid, hard to cast and hard to use that holy symbol to turn and as a divine focus when its hanging around your neck.

I wouldn't go that far... or even close to that far.

There's some formatting problems with the PHB2, and some of the stuff is so-so, but a lot of it is really good stuff. It's one of the higher quality books IMHO that I've seen WOTC put out recently.
