DVDs: Anyone had this happen?

Fahrenheit 9/11 is an anti-Bush propoganda piece by Micheal Moore.
Y'know, I wouldn't have even mentioned the name of the movie except that I thought it could be a production run issue and wanted to know if people who had also bought that "propoganda (sic) piece" had had similar problems. I want technical help, not film criticism. So enough with the rhetoric already.

I returned my copy yesterday for a new one, brought it home and it still wouldn't work. I'm about at my wit's end. I've tried every possible way of loading it up differently (including hitting the menu button) and it won't go. Given how big my entertainment center is and what a PITA it was to get it hooked up in the first place, I won't be bringing the player in for servicing anytime soon unless it starts doing that to other discs.

Some of the extras on my FotR EE DVD don't play right. It has like squares on the screen and it freezes. I'm just glad its with the extras and not the movie itself. I can watch it on my computer, so its no big deal.

The second comment was in direct response to a question by another poster.
Micheal Moore has publicly that the work was meant to be propagandistic in nature. Regardless of your position of the subject, that point is inarguable.

The first comment was tongue in cheek. You will just have to excuse my amusement at the irony.

As for technical comments...it is an unfortunate fact that not all DVDs work in all players. You just appear to have been saddled with a DVD & player that do not get along. If you explain the situation to the vendor and stand your ground they will likely make an exception to the typical "no DVD return" policy.

Between Farhaneit 9/11 and Wal-Marts, this thread is dangerously looming toward the political field... (BTW: Does anyone know if Wal-Marts also sells toys of Porsche 9/11?)

Well, after watching F911, here's something Republicans and Democrats can agree on: Never, NEVER ask Paul Wolfowitz if you can borrow his comb. ;)

:D

To get this thread back ontopic..... ;)

I've had Mom's DVD player not play my Disney discs. They had that same load up, get to menu, then nada. They work fine in the comp. And I've had to "force" the player to play some anime discs by hitting fast forward on the remote to get past the menu (that trick wouldn't work with the Disney discs).

It's probably that encryption coding issue that keeps people from copying discs and making pirated copies to sell at cons and flea markets.
