Once the gas has cleared about half the heroes are feeling very sick and not to steady on their feet. When the noxious fumes dissipate after a minute or so the heroes can see that the chest contains a number of bags and on one side a set of five clear glass vials held in a wooden rack. Two of the vials are light reddish liquid inside, two appear to have their liquid separated somewhat (as if some of the liquids are heavier then the others) with a brownish layer on the top, a silver colored layer in the middle and grayish liquid on the bottle. The last vial's liquid is silvery in color and some grayish matter floating within it.

Inside the bags are an assortment of coins, gems (234 gold pieces, 413 silver pieces, ten semi-precious gems, five precious gems, a black pearl, two small clear-blue diamonds, five blue rubies, three red rubies and five 'coins' that appear to be made out of adamantine), in the first two and the second two appear to have random junk but are recognized as an assortment of material components for various spells (such as powdered rhubarb leaf in an adder’s stomach, what appears to be powdered diamonds, etc.).

Hunter Brightwood

Hunter could not resist laughing at Corwin’s remark, “You may be right my friend. Perhaps we should gather what we have and head back. I’m not quite feeling up to searching anything else today.”

After the fumes have cleared, Shara comes back into the room so that Magen can take his place in front. She glances at the chest and then smiles at the young rogue. "Well done, Corwin."

With her free hand, Shara gently brushes aside the halfling's messy mop of hair to get a better look at his face. She smiles a little, almost sadly. "He didn't even wake up. Poor little thing must be so exhausted."

Magen Brigward, Fighter 3

Magen wrinkled his nose at the gas escaping from he box, his stomach felt queasy but he seamed ok. Still, best to get out until it cleared.

As they waited for the gas to clear it was obvious that the other had been affected much more severely by the gas. "A good find." he said of what was in the chest. "Anyone know what those strange coins are?" he asked.

"Perhaps its best we get going though, there can't be too much daylight left."

OOC: Not sure if we need this but just in case,

GM: Using the rope is an Athletics DC10 to climb out. If you aid each other its with Advantage, but its not a big deal at this point, so we can just assume everyone climbs out of the pit.

We can also assume that you do something to scoop up the 'hag eye' outside without touching it.
Anyone who gets to close to it and fell' a damp cold icky feeling whenever a hand gets to close to it.

After gathering up the chest and the still sleeping Halfling the heroes climb back out of the pit into the daylight of the late afternoon sun. They head back towards their camp. The going is a bit harder for those who are sick but they make it before nightfall.

One of Magen's servants came to the young knight and said "My lord, there was something moving in the forest not more then an hour or so ago. Something big I would wager. We never saw, but we could hear it crashing about..."
