E1: Tomb of Chaos [Judge: Patlin] [Concluded]

Ishmael notes the gold necklace but stays out of the room to keep an eye on the other doors, completely unmindful of the slaughter wrought by Rodimus nearby.

Nars examines the chest for locks or traps but is depressed to find none of either. Opening the chest he finds in it four books. The titles of the books seem a bit odd, there is A Brief History of the Curious Adaptations of Agriculture in the Glupa Inlets, The Care and Husbandry of Yellow Speckled Guinea Hens, Intermediate Studies in Mathematics and Practical Applications Thereof, and A Lady's Guide to the Judicious use of Magic in Noble Housekeeping. All together a strange collection in deed.

The room does not look like it has been raided by gnolls nor does it smell like them. In fact the bed smells faintly of brimstone and while clumsily made it does appear that someone put some effort into it. The frame of the bed is made of wood, the panels extending to the floor, and the entire thing is bolted in place.

The table and chair are little more than that appearing to be just mundane objects with nothing on them.

Nars picks up to books and steps out of the room to place them in Courage's saddle bags. He wonders why the gnolls would not have taken the necklace. It certainly seems strange unless there is some kind of mundane or magical protections around it. He steps back into the room and searches around the necklace for 30 seconds (or long enough to get 5 search rolls).

OOC:
[SBLOCK]How old is everything? Are the books yellowed and crumbling or almost new? Is the bedding/mattress decayed? Does the room look inhabitted in the last month, year, 10 years?[/SBLOCK]

The necklace is hanging above the bed and will require that you get on the bed to examine it. It does not look like it is decaying, just a bit messy and dusty. The books are relatively new, ie not crumbling or even yellowed. The room however does not look like it has been inhabited for quite some time.

Percy

Percy takes the A Lady's Guide to the Judicious use of Magic in Noble Housekeeping. "Oh. I'd been wondering about this sort of thing."

She opens the book and glances through it. "The gnolls have to have been in here. I mean, wouldn't they have been looking for treasure? Yet they avoided it. Come to think of it. Perhaps we should too."

Assuming the book is none too interesting, Percy will take all the books and put them back in the chest. She'll then do a 'detect magic' scan of the room.

Courage gives Nars a peculiar look, the scion of haughtiness and ire, when the Dwarf approaches with items to place into the saddlebags. It even tosses its shaggy mane in Nars' direction.

Ishmael calms the animal down, or at least, attempts to. "'Tis Nars. He is a friend" he throws Nars a shrug.

Courage seems to listen, or more likely, it has formed its own opinion of the Dwarf. It turns to one side to let Nars place the items in one of the bags.

Gorefoot watches Percy start to place the books back, "Umm, Percy? Aren't we supposed to bring back all of the things we find for that guy?"

"Oh. Good point, Gorefoot. But didn't he really want artifacts from this ancient king. These things aren't that old. Somehow I doubt he'd be interested in these, and I'm worried their trapped or cursed somehow. Well. Let me just put them back in the chest for a moment, then I'll detect for magic, then we'll decide."
