Earthdawn 1e / 2e

Though from what I understand, while they started making that version with the goal of having things be closer to ED1, they eventually turned out to make their own changes, creating ED3 instead. I haven't seen it yet though, so I couldn't say for sure.
Fixing things that were broken in 1e was planned for "Earthdawn Classic" from the very beginning. They still claim that it's nearer to the original than 2E, though. However, as I'm only talking about things I heard from others, you may be right.

In any case, the rule changes between the editions are reported as being minor. Earthdawn Classic brought the metaplot back to the state where it was prior to 2E's changes. Everybody claims that the main differences between the parties are over the metaplot and over the artwork.

Living Room Games?

Does LRG no longer hold the ED licence? The web page the link in the post above sent me to wasn't thier page. And what is the gripe about the metaplot? Folks didn't like the war?

Living Room Games still hold the Earthdawn license. RedBrick Limited also hold the Earthdawn license. Both licenses are non-exclusive. Living Room Games' website can be found here :). RedBrick's page was the one linked above.

There was nothing wrong with the war per se, but the actual events seem to have been changed vastly from what FASA originally planned for the war (those books were already mostly written). I think you have to be an Earthdawn expert in order to appreciate the battles between both groups of fans :).
