easier for newbies: 3.5e or PRPG?

Also, if you have an opinion, what's a good intro one-shot adventure? I'm looking at The Burning Plague, Hollow's Last Hope, Dark and Stormy Knight, and maybe CMG's Whispering Woodwind, roughly in that order of preference ATM.

Thanks in advance!

My player absolutely loved Hollow's Last Hope, and it sets up a great mid-level adventure: Carnival of Tears.

i've started out some new players on the Pathfinder alpha.

It's been easier in many instances. The skill selection goes WAY quicker...new characters troubling with a large number of skillpoints was difficult. CMB is way easier to explain and they have a modifying number right on their character sheet...I've found that new players actually have been scared to do the old combat actions because they don't fully understand how they work... that problem is gone...and I find it wierd that multiple times in a session I have new players using combat abilities.

The points aren't any harder to keep track of and the more consistant abilities mean that the players have something to fall back on they know they always have when they cannot figure out what to do in a situation (because they are unfamiliar with the game somewhat).

I've found pathfinder to be a boon in my new gaming group to say the least and of course the adventures are fairly user friendly. I too started out with hollows last hope (which is free on the Paizo site btw...bonus) and then to burnt offerings.

I've pretty much found a happy home in gaming.

Hi,
I would suggest trying the 3.5 based, basic D&D boxed game. It has much simpler rules to start playing with. Once you get going with that you could then make the transition to full 3.5 or Pathfinder alpha.

Sorry, I just noticed that the OP already made a choice.

Yeah, I used the basic game once before with the one player who wasn't new to the game. (To tell the truth, I wasn't so thrilled with the dungeon in that.) But I took inspiration from it in trying to write simplified character sheets.
