[Eberron] Best Sourcebook?

My Faves:
- Magic of Eberron: The fluff of the PrCs, especially the Renegade Mastermaker and the Dreadguard
- Secrets of Xen'drik: Lost of fluff for the background, the Curse, the possible encounters

Least Faves:
- Religions of Eberron: The fluff side was okay. Mechanically, however, its got serious problems.
- Last War: The Thrane issue is too much for me. I dislike the Church of the Silver Flame as much as any good Volite, but that was a little bit too much on the far out side.

I don't think it's a radical statement to say if you aren't making Sharn or Xen'Drik pivotal locations in your campaign, you don't need a sourcebook on them.
I agree with this. If you know that Sharn and Xen'drik won't be pivotal in your campaign then they are low on the list of books.

However, if you don't know where you are setting your campaign, I think Sharn is still high on the list of books you should get (Xen'drik less so). You will use it sometime, and probably will want to focus at least part of your games on Sharn.

Sharn is sort of like New York City in a pulp heroes campaign. You might set such a game in Los Angeles or Chicago. However, you almost certainly will usually see NYC and probably will spend significant amounts of time there. Plus, most of the time you will be centering your game on NYC. It's the center of the pulp hero universe.

My favorites are Sharn: City of Towers, Dragonmarked, Forge of War, Secrets of Sarlona, and the Kalashtar section of Races of Eberron.

I didn't too much like Explorer's Handbook, Secrets of Xen'Drik, or the Player's Guide, although the PG is useful for quick rundowns for those unfamiliar with the setting.

Faiths of Eberron is great. I like the way things are presented in the book.

The others didn't really excite me. I really liked them (I'm pretty near an Eberron fanboy), but the things that grabbed me about the setting were the history, the dragonmarks, and the Kalashtar, so those bits are my favorites.

In order my favourites are: Sharn City of Towers, ECS, Secrets of Sarlona, Faiths of Eberron, Dragonmarked, the rest.
But every single Eberron book is awesome. The explorer's handbook is a little lame, but I think it is still totally worthwhile - I actually think I might pull it out at some point soon (after the new ECS comes out likely) and use it for some inspiration on adventure sites for my group.

I found a stack of ten brand new copies of that book on clearance in a Coles in a mall I visited. $6.99! I didn't want to pay full for Explorer's Handbook, but even I thought I robbing them at that price.

Interestingly enough, these ten copies were the only D&D books in the entire store...

I'm a bit surprised about the many mentions of the Sharn sourcebook. I honestly didn't like it at all and thought it was pretty useless. Now I don't have many other Eberron sourcebooks but all that I do have, I liked better:
- Secrets of Sarlona (decent)
- Races of Eberron (very good)
- The Eberron Campaign Setting itself (best setting source book ever)

Best Books: The campaign setting itself, Sharn: City of Towers, City of Stormreach, Player's Guide to Eberron, Forge of War (if you are insterested in a campaign during the war)
Not recommended: Explorer's Handbook, Secrets of Xendrik, Races of Eberron (none of these is "bad", but they are kinda "meh")

Sharn, Player's Guide, Faiths, and Five Nations were all really good, IMO. Races of Eberron is also a useful resource for the new races, but is much more crunch than setting.
