Sharn is definitely something I want to see in a visual medium, a game or even an animated/live action show, because I want to see how a city of towers is realized. A lot of the static art and maps ... don't really sell to me what Sharn would be like.

Yes, this! For my Eberron game, I've read through a lot of Eberron content, including a lot of Sharn content, and I've gotten the distinct sense that many adventure authors don't quite understand how it's meant to work either. So many adventures based in Sharn make it sound like a standard horizontal, ground-based city, not a vertical one with multiple layers.

What helps me is to think of it as being like a fantasy version of Coruscant. You've got the upper level that has a "ground" that is mostly made up of the rooves of buildings and floating streets and such with smaller towers rising up from that, and then you've got a middle city that is mostly rooms and alleys and streets carved into the sides of the big towers so it feels like living on the sides of a canyon, and then you've got the lower city which is mostly inside and feels more like living underground - but it isn't necessarily just small passages with lots of rooms. You can have large interior spaces that feel like big caves or whatever.
