Ebook RPG Books

That last one is sooooooooo old...

"How old is it?"

Its so old (discontinued in 1996) that the Apple Store doesn't have the cables, connectors or programs to retrieve data from it. Data he needs.

Um, 2nd law of thermodynamics? Entropy? Have you heard of these things? What you are proposing is the possibility of a perpetual motion machine. Not possible.
"Practically forever" might have been the better statement. I know a couple cats in materials science who are doing such research. Rechargeable batteries that last more than 100 years are quite possible, according to them. If the battery lasts 10 times as long as the device it is intended to power.... that's forever, for all intents and purposes. The form factor of devices using the battery will probably change multiple times during such a time period.

Ask yourself.... is it in Apple's best interests to sell me an ipod that will last longer than my lifetime (assuming computers remain willing to talk to it)? Not at all. No consumer-oriented company is going to want batteries that long-lasting. Investment would have to come from commercial/industrial or military use. Historically..... that sort of thing isn't a priority for those sectors.

Maybe somebody has already covered this, but doesn't it make more sense that niche hardware (ebook readers) be built to recognize the most widely used electronic document format (PDF at the present time), rather than expecting the world to dump the most widely used electronic document format in favor of one currently only used on niche hardware (ebook readers)?

Notice how you're no longer using punch cards?

To put it simply - the most widely used format was not designed for what we now think of as ebook use. It simply doesn't serve the purpose well. If functionality changes, formats may need to change to suit. There is nothing new in this - it has been so since the dawn of computing.
