EB's Adventuring in the Days of Yore - Tyranny of Dragons - IC

OOC: Don't forget high wisdom bonus to magic saving throws
I assume the actual saving throw category is Spells since fear does not appear in the other four categories.

Sebastian is amazed by the appearance of the dragon, so enthralled that he wants just to look at the magnificent and fearsome beast. He almost forgets to duck at all. Then the enormity (literal and figurative) of the situation sinks into his brain.

History
Sebastian Tenpennies and his family were members of the Cult of the Dragon, until our rivals in the cult arranged to wipe all of us out. Attacked during a magical experiment, all of my family was slaughtered and I alone survived, but the Cult of the Dragon believes me to be dead also. Although I survived, I was changed and scarred by the magical backlash, and I want revenge! My hit list consists of three names: a human cultist named Frulam Mondath, a half-orc named Bog Luck, and a half-dragon named Rezmir. I have now infiltrated a small group of cultists, who linked up with the main assault force set to attack Greenest.

Sebastian's ST vs. Fear: [roll0]

Sebastian sinks to his knees as he realizes that he has absolutely no business even remotely approaching melee combat with a dragon, and he contemplates all the cake he will miss after he is dead.

OOC: EB, even though Sebastian made his saving throw, without the +5 no less(!), he's still pretty terrified because it's a DRAGON for goodness sake, and he doesn't even have a spell left. He's pretty sure that he's not fixing to vanquish it with a dagger. Another way to think about it, I suppose, is that it's not so much fear as it is a sense of self-preservation.

OOC: Monster Manual says magic, but it must mean save vs spells.
And [MENTION=48762]Leif[/MENTION] your character saved need a 12 or more and you got a 17.

OOC: Always remember the Monster Manual was released 1 year before the PHB and 2 years before the DMG. There are discrepancies caused by this.

Tina is shocked the dragon has come near. She draws her bow and considers knocking an arrow, she hopes the dragon wants to parley.

OOC: Spell save [roll0] +5 dragon +3 wisdom vs DC 17 Spell save

OOC: Rumdum save [roll0], 50/50 [roll1]
Filmark flees in panic [roll2] turns
William flees in panic [roll3] turns

Filmark and William are swept up in a crowd of people as the good folk of Greenest scream and run for their lives. It is a chaotic scene in the bailey as you watch the dragon. It stretches up to an opposing height as it stands atop the keep roof, its clawed hands moving in what seem subtle gestures. "It's casting a spell! Kill it! Kill it!" cries Escobert from the opposite parapet. Lord Nighthill emerges from the keep and tries to wade through the mass of people running for their lives, to get to the walls.

OOC: Round 1: Please list what you wish to do, and after I have all the actions I will roll INIT for both groups of combatants and then narrarate what happens. Please add in any attack rolls to the post.

Sorry but looks like Filmark and William will be out of this for a bit.

OOC: Can we get a more tactical map? I have no idea how far away from the dragon Tina is and I have no idea how many flights of stairs away it is.
Also, note, if there is a quick way up to the roof of the stables(?) that she standing next to. She will get to "level 4" by hoping up on the roof rather than trying to run across the compound to stairs on the left side of the map.

Tina remembers readying a bow she did not possess. She shakes her and looks to get to the roof of the stables as a shortcut to the parapets. "I must be insane," she says to no one. "I'm running toward a dragon."

Rumdum cannot help but stand open-mouthed at the chaos around him. He mutters under his breath, "We just can't seem to catch a break..."

There isn't much he can do against a dragon by himself, so he takes a moment to examine the scene.

OOC: Are there any siege weapons around? A ballista would be gold around now.

First Post
A dragon...a DRAGON! Why am I not running away? Tyrial thought as he found his legs carrying himself towards the beast. Knowing it would probably be some of the last things he ever thought, he gave a silent prayer to Waukeen and gripped his Flail tight. Well, maybe I will distract it long enough for others to get away.

OOC: Charge Dragon! [roll0] [roll1]

Sebastian Tenpennies, Sneaky Gnome

Sebastian steels himself mentally as he tucks and rolls into the nearest shadows. His idea is to Hide In Shadows which should hopefully cause him to drop off the dragon's 'radar,' and get into position to assassinate the dragon.

- No need for a tactical map I can let you know how far from the dragon you are each round if you wish.
- Tina doesn't have great knowledge of the keep ,so she only knows the one way to the top of the walls and no short cuts.
- And sorry no siege weapons, but I can just imagine a tiny halfling manning a huge balistia, maybe next time.[/sblock]

Round 1:

Tina looks to the walkway and decides immediately that a straight line will get her into the fight the quickest. She hefts herself up to the roof of the stables and is lucky to find a ladder (probably used to get to the top of the parapet), held down by a large rock on the stable roof.

Meanwhile Sebastain slinks into the shadows and waits, hoping the creature will jump down into the courtyard. If it does he will be ready to pounce. Tyrial moves as quickly as he can towards the stairs and halfway up, as the dragon finishes its spell. An arcane glow surrounds the creature protecting it as a half dozen arrows fly across the courtyard from the few guards holding to their courage.

Rumdum watches the tiny arrows bounce of the scaled and enchanted hide of the dragon to no effect, and he searches frantically for anything bigger to use on the beast.

Filmark and William have fled with many of the church refugees back into the storage room, where the old tunnel is hidden. A couple old men search frantically looking for the door, while a group of women cry in the corner.

Rumdum grimaces and heads for a corner of the courtyard and puts his dagger away, then removes his sling. "Might as well be a pea shooter against that thing..."
