ECL Challenge

(uh-oh, I lightened up on Rules, this isn't right...)

Good, you do propose an interesting challenge and I will take a look at that tonight, once I am around my books again

Also how are you doing stats? Standard array? Point buy?

:-D Hey now, my PHB and MM1 both say TSR... on my bookspine

As does the DMG -- TSR 11551.

Probably a holdover fom TSR-era cataloging numbers. :)

Oh geez... why the hell are people so nit-picky about exact terminology.

Because we love to annoy! ;)

If I say TSR because I've been playing this game since '83, it's because I'm nostaligic.

Only to a point, I hope. Or do you still discriminate bookish dwarves and don't let them become wizards?

Will I get yelled at for using 1st edition stat layouts? (Str, int, wis, dex, con, cha, which is still the order I use)

Well, not yelled at. BUT I MIGHT USE CAPITAL LETTERS ON YOU!

Hm... nothing against that, but it always leads to confusion. It's bad enough that the order of the saves is differant in the german rules - always a problem if you just say something like "1 4 1" and they complain why their fort is suddenly so crappy...

The topic is ECL, there was no ECLs in 2ed or 1st, so it's pretty obvious I'm talking about 3ed stuff, and since TSR was bought by Wizards, it's pretty obvious I'm talking about Wizards stuff.

Of course, but se above :D (don't take that stuff to serious)

Straight point buy? What sort of crazy, unbalanced rules are those? :)

-Hyp.

Icewind Dale 2 Rules, of course. All that talk about "2 more for 18 is just +1 more in the mod, and should be treated as such" without regard to the probability of an 18 turning up or that higher stats give access to feats on top of that bonus and all that.
