I just think monsters are Neat! (he/him)
Today marks 50 years since the SS Edmund Fitzgerald went down in Lake Superior, claiming all 29 souls aboard. This tragedy was immortalized by Canadian songwriter Gordon Lightfoot, in his iconic classic, "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald".
With this anniversary coming up, and with the new Forgotten Realms books out, a potentially baseless theory entered my mind. You see, the east coast of the Moonshae Isles is defined by "Whitefish Bay", a body of water that shares a name with one name dropped in Lightfoot's song. "The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay if they put 15 more miles behind her".
Ed Greenwood was born in Toronto, which might lend credence to the theory that the shared names aren't a coincidence. I have no way of knowing, but I do know that Ed likes answering questions. If anyone knows, or can get a hold of him to ask, I would appreciate an answer to this mystery!
Thanks!
