RAW doesn't require two hands on a two-handed weapons at all times. The two-handed is for attacks only.

Why, in the 5.24 PHB, does the Eldritch Knight not allow you to use your weapon as a spell focus? The Valor Bard and the Bladesinger Wizard allow you to do so, so why not the magic-using subclass of the Fighter which is supposed to be a weapon master? It just seems daft.

because why make something nice for the martials when you can instead give it to the fullcasters?

It's basic logic.

Any other interpretation would require your character to sleep with two hands on their two handed sword

I allow it but as I said I think RAI the gish classes can cast while using weapons.

If its not RAI the designers screwed up.

Honestly the ability to use your weapon as a material component isn't that necessary. The fact that you can't do your somatic components of your spells without warcaster is the bigger problem.

Seems like that would make sense to for the War Bond weapon(s) be usable as an Arcane Focus, but Arcane Tricksters also have no method to use a weapon as a focus so I guess the logic is Primary Casters = Yes; Tertiary Casters = No.

Well, fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your perspective), I'm likely to be the DM in any future game I'm in.

I guess I'm one of the hardass DMs mentioned. Two-hander? No problem, you just need two hands to attack, not hold. But you're not gonna sword n' board AND cast spells unless you sheathe/drop the sword. Or take war caster, which yes is a feat tax but lets you have your cake and eat it too.

I guess the logic, if there's logic to it, is that full casters: yes, others: no.
