They're at about the same power level as the D&D 2024 True Strike spell. They are very helpful to make gish and melee spell casters achieve moderate damage if they don't have Extra Attack. If you have Extra Attack, you can generally achieve more damage without such a spell.I don't use the relic "__ blade" stuff myself... but that is juice for a different thread where I would get annihilated by people that like those spells![]()
There are certain builds that would benefit more from this, such as a Rogue using Booming Blade and sneak attacking as well on that attack, though the Rogue may still be better off two-weapon fighting instead to ensure they get a successful hit to benefit from their sneak attack bonus damage.
The only builds that I see exploiting this are say Sorcerer with Quickened spell casting both Booming Blade or Green-Flame Blade and another spell, alternatively Bladesinger or Eldritch Knight replacing an attack with one of these cantrips to achieve higher damage. Even then, that damage output is not particularly high vs. other builds that are optimized to maximize damage (e.g., Fighter using Action Surge with the Battlemaster archetype).
