Elem. Savant & Incantatrix NOT for pure sorcerers?

First Post
Hi all,

I've seen a lot of folks mention that incantatrix is a great sorcerer prestige class.

Also, for my backup character (a wild elf sorcerer) I was thinking of shooting for elem. savant (air).

Then I notice that both classes require Knowledge (the Planes) with 8 ranks.

So you wait until lvl 14 to take the prestige classes since knowledge (planes) is cross-class, or you multiclass bard or wizard.

Anyone had a sorcerer shoot for these prestige classes yet? How did they do it?

Thanks,
Skaros

Try either the Cosmopolitan feat from FR or...........theres another feat forgot the name, but it makes all knowledges a class skill. So a Sorcerer can get all 10 levels of the PrC it just costs another feat. Well worth it for those classes IMO.

Slightly OT -- does anyone know of a Feat that allows a character to make Diplomacy a class skill? I'm thinking this'd be a great feat for Sorcerers, especially in the Dragonstar setting...

For a more diplomatic sorcerer, you could try using Monte Cook's alternate sorcerer from the Book of Eldritch Magic II....if you're willing to get most of the prime sorcerer spells a couple of levels later than the core class does that is.

My sorceror faced a similar problem and took this path.

Divine Oracle (DoF): Gives Knowledge Religion as a clas skill. Which allows you to get:

Arcane Devotee (FR): Gives all Knowledge skills as class skills. Which allows you to get meet knowledge-based requirements much more easily.

DO (and maybe AD) also gives Diplomacy as a class skill.

Use the Mage of the Arcane Order PrC to have all the Knowledge skills as class skills and meet the Reqs earlier... ...not to mention it's an incredibly useful PrC for a Sorcerer...

Or talk with your DM about rearranging your class skills. The DMG speaks extensively about customizing core classes to suit concepts. If your PC is somewhat of a natural caster who has been working at defending your home town/village against outsiders, maybe he'll consent to switch out Alchemy for Knowledge (Planes) on your list.

Mage of the Arcane Order is a very advantageous path for a sorceror to take in order to get these classes.

Candlecaster would also work (and the prerequisites are easier).

If you are a multi-class fighter or paladin/sorceror, you could take Spellsword as an intermediate to classes with knowledge skill-prerequisites.
