Elemental Perfection

First Post
I am about to start playing a wizard and, if the GM allows, am leaning toward the Elemental Savant PrC (Water, to be specific).

If anyone has any advice on how to plan/play the character I'd love to hear it. I'll be starting at first level. (Of course, with my luck I'll never even get to the point where I can take the PrC before the game crashes to a halt, but thats another issue altogether) I also have a specific question about the ability Elemental Perfection.

The description of the ability says that the Savant's type changes to "elemental". It also mentions as specific drawbacks that the Savant can be hedged out by a magic circle, and that he takes double damage from the energy associated with his opposed element. It mentions no other drawbacks.

However, in the Monster Manual, looking at the qualities associated with the type "elemental" it states that elementals can be neither raised nor resurrected.

So my question is, does taking Elemental Perfection render the character unable to be raised or resurrected? I would hope not, thats a pretty potent penalty, and you'd think if it were the case, they would actually mention it in the description of the PrC. Nonetheless, it isn't completely clear.

I'd say it probably works like other "native outsider" transformations -- for Monks, Alienists, etc., who become "outsiders" for the purpose of most effects, but who still can be Raised.

I can't offer the page or references to back this up, but I am pretty sure what I am referring to is in the FAQ in the area that talks about monks and their "outsider" status at 20th level.

Outsiders can not be raised or resurrected, true.

However, an outsider that is native to the world he is on can be raised or resurected.

(The distincition is basically native creature of type outsider vs. non-native creature of type outsider)

That is just what I recall anyway ....

Also, I am pretty sure I've seen a spell called Raise Outsider somewhere. It was a level higher, I believe, but otherwise worked like a standard Raise spell.

So hope is not lost.
