Elementalist *updated*

The Elementalist is my attempt at a class which is able to wield all 4 of the classis elements. I'm happy with the way it turned out. I'm finding more and more that I absolutely love invocations and they allow you to make great, thematic classes. I really wish they were open content!

I've finished writing everything up all nice and purdy. You can see the Elementalist class here:
http://asmor.com/misc/D&D/classes/js/elementalist.html

And its list of invocations here:
http://asmor.com/misc/D&D/classes/js/elementalistinvocations.html

I might add more invocations, but I'm not sure. I tried to make the invocations that are there reasonably powerful, though, as they're the only class feature that the elementalist really gets.

So this is like a warlock?

How do they gain them? Just like a warlock?

The warlock adds a lot of cool things to the game and what you have here is the strat of something pretty cool.

Thanks for sharing.

I didn't think anyone had payed any attention to this, so I wasn't going to say anything until I had the invocations done up all pretty too, but I've worked on the class itself.

I'm glad you enjoyed the invocations and hopefully this answers any other questions. It's a lot more bland on the base than the warlock, but I think the invocations may be a bit more powerful, if more limited in number. Also, I didn't really want to come up with powers which all elementalists would possess... I figure that it's better to make any power an invocation and give them the choice to take it.

A couple of invocations to add:
Water: resist cold 15
Fire: resist fire 15
Air: resist electricity 15
Earth: DR 5/-

Oh yeah and have them specialize in one and then cant use the opposite elemental type. If fire no water etc.

I would give each element a weird useful mental power attached too:
Water illusion
Air telepathy
Fire charm
Earth healing

I was trying to give them all a certain identity... Among those, water is the element with damage reduction and earth is the one with energy resistance.

I would actually consider allowing specialization (but not requiring it) if I had more invocations available... As it is, there's hardly enough to fill all 12 of there choices.

I think I will add invocations for summoning elementals, though. Probably base it off the reserve feat from Complete Mage which lets you summon an elemental.

I've just updated it again. I killed two birds with one stone by giving them a class feature for summoning elementals, and letting specialized elementalists summon more of them, although they give up some of their versatility since they always have to summon elementals of their chosen element.
