Pathfinder 1E Elf Subraces

Valley Elves were a specific Greyhawk campaign setting thing. They were elves in servitude in the Valley of the Mage; Rary's lair from memory.

Never heard anything suggesting they had anything to do with Valley slang.

Actually, the "Mage of the Valley" wasn't Rary or any of the 8... Rather, he was almost a scoundrel, hiding from either the Great Kingdom or Nyrond, but as he was an Shade Archmage, Jaran Krimeah, people seemed to not be too hasty to track him down. He even had a drow mistress, although I don't remember her as being especially evil.. half-drow maybe? I haven't looked at that module/setting for a while now. In any case, that whole valley is also rather isolationist, and didn't really like outsiders, so it is easy to ignore them for the most part.

cannonfire wiki valley of the mage...

I know, I quibble, but I am running a campaign based out of Celene originally, and while the group is in the City of Greyhawk at the moment, or rather down at the lowest level of the Tower of War where our bard is using his lute of building to totally fill in the path to the underdark and seal it, well, I try to keep to the canon as best I can. of course, now they've made yet another enemy notice them directly, Iuz, but that was bound to happen eventually anyway I think.

Is someone willing to take the time to come up with "racial" elven pathfinder compatible yet based on Greyhawk stats or such? I'm busy right now making a guild based out of a Celene Noble house who specializes in recovering elven religious artifacts and who trains mages, rogues, and warriors for these missions...

I would like some non-over-the-top ideas for different subraces. I think PF did a good job of congealing the different types of elves into one race. I'm pretty comfortable with simply making the differences a cultural one (like humans) for most of the subraces.
Didn't the Advanced Race Guide have some alternate elves in it? I believe they were packages of alternate racial traits.

Mage of the Valley had a full drow 'cohort'.

Slang: What? ever since the MM2 came out they've been "like, whoa dude!" ... or, simply an offshoot of Grey Elves (it's the 2nd comment ... Valley talk just seemed to overtake our gaming table for a few minutes every night)

APG: GOOD THOUGHT! ... of those listed I think the woodcraft option would be good for Grugach/Wild Elves. The others would need a new replacement, I think.

Dragon Magazine #313 had an issue about Ghost Elves, elves that were trapped in and adapted to the Ethereal Plane. They might be a nifty addition to break up the traditional bunch if you can find the relevant info.

Also, if you can find a copy of Dragon Magazine #72 (which was the first print Dragon Magazine I ever owned), therein lies a Tasteless Song of the Month about Valley Elves.

This is what I have so far, changes are meant to be simple rather some sort of complete overhaul.

• Elf, Valley medium humanoid [elf], as high elf except

+4 disguise as human, Height as human, weight as elf. -2 diplomacy, knowledge local, intimidate vs.
other elves

• Elf, Wood +2 str, +2 dex, -2 cha. APG Silent Hunter instead of Elven Magic

• Elf, Wild +2 dex, -2 int. APG Woodcraft replaces Elven Magic. Survival and Know Nature are always class skills (yes, they're down a stat bonus compared to other races)

• Elf, Grey Same Elven Magic except +2 to all Int based skills instead of +2 spellcraft (same stat bonuses as High Elves)

• Elf, Aquatic breathe water, swim speed, aquatic subtype (same stat bonuses and special abilities as High elves)
