Does Negative Energy Protection spell (3rd level cleric) work against a GHOSTS "horrible vissage" attack?

The vissage attack drains stats off of a look or something.

Need help! Lemme know asap!

Negative Energy Protection lists the undead whose attacks are blocked by it, and "ghost" isnt one of them...

It is not an exhaustive list and ability drain is ability drain. It is borderline but I'd say yes.

But is ability drain necessarily caused by Negative energy? Don't think so. The ghost is so horribly ugly that it weakens all who see it. There is nowhere in the ghost template description that states that the ghost uses negative energy...

I thought all undead used negative energy... That is why you can use negative energy to heal them.

But the ghost isn't using anything. Just looks ugly.

The ability is not just because it looks ugly. It is a supernatural ability. The power comes from somewhere, most likely from negative energy. And since the ghost is undead, I would allow NEP to work against this ability.
