[EN Pub] The Fantastic Science -- 24-page teaser!

Things like these could make for interesting Pick'n'Mix :)

Jus the template, or are you suggesting that I use the Pick'n'Mix to expand on the material in Fantastic Science?

In either case, I have to admit I was wondering if it would be possible to write Pick'n'Mix products for ENP. I have no layout ability and no interest in learning, nor any inclination to buy a Pick'n'Mix license and set up a little shop for myself, but writing duties might be a good way to subsidize my book-buying habits...

Matt, if you write something of, I think it's like 1000 words of less (that sounds right, I think), and we like it, Jake or somebody can lay it out in, like, 5 minutes. If you like P&Ms, and want to work on them, go for it.

Writing P&M's for another publisher (such as ENP) is certainly very viable. However, in this particular case, there would be a problem - the P&M license specifically prohibits a P&M products from requiring another product for use (other than the Core Rulebooks). You'd have to ensure that they were usable completely on their own.

Good to know, on both counts. I think I'll do the Bioweapon template up and see what you guys think of it - it doesn't make any particular mention of TFS, though I had it in mind when I wrote it.

If you don't mind my asking, which devices struck you as particularly intriguing?

Keep in mind I have only read about 1/10th of the total. The ones I love so far: bio-genetic scourge, bio-reactive theriac, collar of bestial capacity, egestive gland laboratory, imperial army service widget (is there a larger version?), all the mimetic keys, Peregrine’s sun-caller (Ultimate Spelljammer weapon), steamplunker (with the extra range), Tullius' items, the vibrowand (kobold's first weapon encountered by the party), and Xult's primal blossom.

It is overwhelming with good ideas. I find it more useful than GURPS Steampunk and Steamtech and that is really saying something (first time I have seen a d20 product better than a SJGames product in the same field).

So Kelleris, how long do I have to wait before I can start posting my silly builds with your book? Such as the Warmachine build I told you about :P

Wow, now that's a complement! Especially since I thought the book was mostly crunch... Do you mind if I quote you on that? Since a proper review won't be forthcoming for a while, I might consider putting it in my ever-evolving Sig of Advertising.

Bah, you'll scare away the customers!

For those of you who don't know, this is Errol Lobo, one of the two editors for book. Everybody say hi to Errol! :] He really helped me make sure some of the more questionably-balanced things I had in the rough draft never made it to the final copy. :)

Curses! And you need customers so we can make some of the other device ideas we've had since you shipped off the final draft of this thing...remember the Nanitic Discombobulator Matt? What about Teacup's Persistent Annoyances? :D

Not really a spoiler down here, but only click if you care about me being a nerd. Also, ya never know, I may just give something away...

[sblock]Edit: Teacup was my first technologist playtest attempt. He is a gnome who is short for his age. He has an inferiority complex, and so tends to overdo things. As a result of this, he is indirectly responsible for the device in TFS that lets you fly and has only two settings - safe speed, and unsafe speed.

Edit2: Feiran is a technologist playtested by another member of our gaming group. For those who own the book now, Teacup and Feiran are iconic Technologists. It's awesome to know the writer :D

Edit3: Did I give something away? I have no idea. Besides, it's not like they made me sign an NDA or anything...crap, gave them an idea.[/sblock]

I have been reading it and trying to figure out a way to use it, mechamancy and standard magic in a setting. The only way I could think of was to use mechamancy as a signature of "advanced" civilizations and fantastic science as a rebellion against magic as a whole.

As much as I love the little dudes, I am going to drop kobolds in exchange for something much more interest IMO- giants that use fantastic technology. Their homelands were cursed with an antimagic field and so they developed something else and now are conquering the little peoples with said technology. Though fire giants have the technology vibe, I am going to drop all of the standard ones and develop a new one. The problem for the little races is three fold- antimagic items, Huge sized technology and a methodology that is counter to the knowledge they have (magic). Even those peoples who use mechamancy are going to have a very difficult time dealing with the invaders.

The antimagic vibe is also useful for alien invasions. Meteor strikes (ala When the Sky Falls) that cause "blackouts" of magic that allow the invaders (tech using ethergaunts?) a window for domination of a few locations.

Mr. Kelsey- you have a fan.
