EN World Iconics: To 4e or Not to 4e.

Pffft. I feel like that Sorcerer in the bondage armour in the 3E PHB. I guess he was an iconic but does anyone remember his name? Nope*. I was up there with these guys once, so many years ago <weeps quietly>.

Wow, though, that was like eight years ago so I guess times change.

* - I bet someone does.

The last I heard, due to the preferred playstyle of his group, and the needs of his campaign, el-remmen is NOT switching to 4E. He may, however, steal a few 4E ideas for use as house rules.

el-remmen, can we get a confirmation of the above?

Right, right - I just started with SH authors. Crothian, Hong, Morrus, etc. are not - as far as I know - SH authors. But they certainly equal and trump many of the names I've listed. I'll throw them up there.

I've had perhaps three story hours that have started but they never seem to last. Writing a Story Hour is just time intensive and it is tough to keep it up. I imagine soon I'll try another one. :D

I'm just pleased it was Scott that first said I was an Iconic. That's cool. :cool:

Any decision on the 3e/4e front, Crothian? You are one the rare folks, I think, that has managed to wade through the turbulent months without restoring to bitterness or negative posts against either side.

I'd also like to add that I enjoy lurking on your live journal.

If I had to guess, I would guess you are going to try 4e, but I don't think that means you'll drop 3e in the process. If I'm right, I get a cookie.

Crothian isn't going 4e, at least according to his blog. Interestingly, he identifies himself primarily as a Changeling judge instead of a D&D player. He's skilled at more games than anyone else I know.

I've now run two 4e games and played two. So far it looks like the game will provide our group with more interesting combat while keeping the same amount of roleplaying. I like that! And interestingly, based on the frequency we play (every two weeks, 3-4 hours), I expect the default campaign speed will give us a lvl 1-30 game that finishes in about 6 years. That's just what I'm looking for.

You know, I think I would faint if I ever was actually correct on any of my guesses.

Thanks for the update - will edit the list accordingly.
