EN World Iconics: To 4e or Not to 4e.

I'm going 4e for my next campaign. Most of my DMing is the OGL sci-fi game "Starguild" (ask me about it :)) but I also enjoy running fantasy campaigns too, and I find a lot to like in 4e.

I'd love to play it, but (the same as the shift to 3e) the rest of my gaming group have to try something out for a while before deciding whether or not it is for them, so I hope to run something for them which is fun and gives the system a chance to shine.

(I am, however, already compiling a list of 'proud nails' for 4e, things that I want to fix before my campaign really gets underway!)

Cheers

Why, since you ask so nicely :)

Starguild is an OGL game which draws rules and inspiration from true20, d20 modern and Spycraft 2.0 to support science fiction adventure. It's 161 pages long (including the default campaign setting) and I've just about got it ready for publication now, with ideally some additional illustrations to finish it off.

Players to date have enjoyed the dramatic conflict rules for chases, infiltration, interrogation, manhunts, hacking and so forth; and the social conflict rules for persuasion, intimidation, seduction and the like which are based on the True20 'damage save' concept.

I'm hoping that when I sell it as a PDF that other people will take a look and think it is fun too :)

Thanks again for asking :D

Aha, so this is a shameless plug! ;)

But it sounds very interesting, so the plug is working.

I would add Mark and Nifft to any EN World "iconics" list as well

Thanks, DaveMage, but I think threads like this sow divisiveness in a community. What a handful of more prolific posters decide should not factor into other people's decision on what game they play (unless they happen to play at the same table with those posters, of course :D).

I mean, my avatar changes on every post - show me anyone else on the board that can do that!!

Not iconic - ::grumble, grumble::

Maybe if you let Wisdom Penalty have this feature, you can be an iconic too. :D
