ENnies 2002 Judges Selection

I am volunteering.
I've been posting on the boards for maybe a year now, lurking for a few months before that.
For roleplaying experience, I have some seven or eight years, and a moderately large gaming library to show for them. I've been with 3E since the beginning, and started running a weekly campaign (still running) in January, last year.
Being a high school-student, I have ample amounts of spare time to dedicate to this honorary task.

I would like to volunteer to be a judge again this year.

My qualifications:

I ran Unofficial D&D News for two years.

The "ENnies" are sorta kinda named after me. :)

I live in the US and would love to tackle the responsibility of getting stuff shipped.

Plus the ENnies judging is during the summer when I don't have to work much. Ok, that last one was more of a taunt than a qualification.

I will also volunteer.

I have been a part of this community since early in the Eric Noah Unofficial News days - though I was a lurker for a long time.

I run a D&D generator site I created, giving me a great knowledge of the rules.

I have participated in various board functions - SSBF and BADD (;)) come to mind.

I've only been gaming for 8 years, but I don't feel this is a disadvantage - different perspectives are valuable.

Finally, I am an active member of the boards, especially on the Rules and In-Character forums.

My name is Leslie Foster and I would like to be a volunteer for the EN World Awards 2002.

I feel that I am qualified for these reasons:

I have been playing RPG's since 1977 (Original D&D - but I'm not a member of the Old Farts Club)

I have been a DM since 1980. My D&D campaign (weekly) is in its sixth epoch. (OD&D, Basic, Expert, 1st ed, 2nd ed, 3rd ED/d20).

I may be DM'ing 3rd Edition/d20 right now, but in the years past the number of games I have run, played and collect are detailed & go through many genres (Traveller, DC Heroes(Blood of Heroes), Rolemaster, Boot Hill, James Bond, Chill, Call of Cthulhu, Daredevils, Gangbusters, Villians & Vigilantes, Timemaster, Twilight 2000, Top Secret, TORG, Stalking the Night Fantastic, It came from the Late, Late Show, Indiana Jones etc.). I feel that it shows that I'm willing to give anything a try and to put it through it's paces.

I am a RPGA member since 1986 and I have run adventures for the RPGA and my own events at conventions (AtlanticCon, Origins, GenCon South, and GENCon plus local CONS) since 1981.

I have lurked on these boards since Eric's Unoffical 3rd Edition site was around, but have been posting since September 2000.

I live in the United States (NYC area). Shipping packages is not a problem as I have the main Post Office near me at Penn Station (open 24 hours).

I work for a research company, so I am aware of "context" when it comes to reviewing and judging products and of keeping a mind open for different possibilities when it comes to game design.

Morrus, thank you for giving me the opportunity to "place my name in nomination" for this honor.

Good luck to all the other nominees.

I believe I'll throw my hat in the ring.

My qualifications:

I've been roleplaying since the late 70's and have playing most of the variations of D&D at some point.

I've ran convention games at Origins for several game systems, including D&D (admittedly, years ago when Origins used to be on the east coast).

I own a good percentage of the new products, so I have a head start on reading the products for review :) Also, I have 90% of the d20 product that was released in the first year and have read all of the product I bought. Therefore, I have a wide range with which to compare products.

Finally, while I haven't been a member of the community from the beginning, I've been here for a good long time (probably started lurking only a month or two after Eric launched). So, I've seen the breadth of opinions of the d20 community in it's high and low moments.

Hey, I'll volunteer this time.

I'm in the US and I've been a member here at EN World for about a year and a half. I've reviewed stuff here on the boards quite a bit. I have strong opinions but I really do try to be fair (hey, I even said good things about John Wick's d20 module ;) ) I did a lot of critical work concerning film and film history in college (for my major), so I try to have a good eye for detail; I did well in this regard, so I think I can apply this experience to this endeavor.

I'd like to join the esteemed company above and volunteer to be an EN-Judge. I live in Sweden and I'm a frequent poster since back in the days. I play D&D once a week and spend almost every waking hour pondering it. I play in two or three different campaigns (Greyhawk, Scarred Lands and Freeport). Also, I DM an experienced group and a group of beginners. I'm starting to look more closely on other d20 systems. Thanks.

I would love to participate in this years judging. Like Teflon Billy I am a Canadian resident. I have been around since the days of Eric Noahs Unoffical 3E News and have been an active member since August this year. I have been playing DnD for 4 years now and as a University student who is paying his own way I know a lot about value.

I should have plenty of time to read over the books, as I will be earning money for school this year treeplanting in the mountains. There is very little to do for enterainment as we all camp in tents.

My choices are to either read, burn things, play cards, or smoke dope. I don't smoke dope, and we don't get around to playing cards very often so the reading material would be greatly apreciated. Especially since I will not be able to play D&D during this time (torture I know, but it pays the bills).

As far as communication goes I am in town every 6th day, and have the whole month of August off so I should be able to keep in touch with the rest of the judges reasonably well.

I may not have as much D&D experience as other members on these boards, but I don't believe that impedes my ability to judge a product on it's merit; fairly and impartially.

Thank you for your consideration,

Omedon

ooo-ooo, pick me, pick me!

I humbly ask for your vote as judge this year.

What are my qualifications you ask?

For one thing (and this hardly elevates me in this crowd I know) I have been playing DnD since around 1983. On top of that there are other considerations.

I am (IMO anyways) fair and reasonably open minded. I am a swift reader and very capable of wading through all that reading material a judge is forced to recieve. I am currently serving as grandmaster judge over on fight club having had a big hand in both writing the rules for YBA and rewriting the rules for YB (and if you haven't checked them out, why not?) This also allows me the dubious distinction of having the most posts on the boards which testifies to the amount of time I can spend on the ENNies if chosen as a judge.

I hope that when it comes time to pick the judges you will, again, choose me as one.

Thank You

I would like to volunteer to be a judge!

I keep well up-to-date on the d20 scene, even when I don't have time to post to this list ^_^ I have run 3E since (a bit before) it came out, used several other companies d20 products in my games, and have done some of my own d20 conversions. Before school started, I was active on the various incarnations of the ENboards, back to the original WOTC pre-3E release boards. Although law school keeps me from posting as often as I'd like, now that finals are over I have enough time to devote to judging!

I have been gaming (GM and player) for over 20 years and I am familiar with a wide range of product lines and systems, including d20 :) I also run a group called BostonGamers of over 350 local area gamers of all kinds.

With so much d20 product out there, the ENnies are a great idea to help recognize particularly good work, and I'd love to help out!
