ENnies and the EN World Gathering in 2003

I'm all for more "events" at the gathering, I like the trivia idea.

we definitely need to be put "on the schedule" officially as soon as possible. Peter says next time it will be in some sort of a room, with better mic situations. Anthony Valterra suggests food! Good ideas.

What we need is an ENnies booth! We could hire a temp to sit there with a big book of everyone's schedules. Then if you wanted to know where, say, Nemm or PC were at any given moment you'd just go ask.

Dinkeldog, I like your for a lunch gathering.

I think next year, I could bring the badges to the stage immediately after the ENnies as well as show up earlier to help distribute badges. (I had a seminar with several of the people from WoTC just before the ENnies. A few of the panelists were uncertain where the ceremony was going to occur.) If there is an RPGA meeting next year, I could try to distribute badges. Also, if a lot of people show up from one company, such as the good people from Mystic Eye Games and Thunderhead Games, I can try to distribute badges at their booths. (As I did this year.)

I would be willing to help advertise the ENnies a bit more. Maybe our members who run web sites can also advertise the awards at their sites.

I ran into a few people who, seeing my EN World Gathering badge, asked me about the site. Maybe we could do a little more publicity in the on line materials for Gen Con and the mailed materials.

In response to getting a proper place to have the Ennies rewards, I suggest getting in contact with the people running the con. I've participated running local cons here in Columbus the past few years, and from my experience the biggest problem is a lack of comunication between the people running the events and the con staff.

WR, you can give me evil ideas for DMing too...just make sure you tell Ed and I different ideas...

I'd love to see some events after the gathering, or perhaps just affiliated with ENWorld later on in the weekend. The best games I've ever been in have been in games with people from the boards. I'd be more than willing to run something, and definately willing to play in a game run by any of you fine gentlemen or ladies (should any ladies be posting in this thread... i didn't do a thorough read)

an ENWorld booth is a great idea! I'll volunteer to sit around there for a while!

I'm definately interested in helping make the ENnies and the gathering the best they can be, so let me know if you need help doing anything! :)

There seem to be plenty of publishers friendly to ENWorld I'm sure you could get one of them to donate some space in their booth.

As far as activites afterwards I participated in Leopolds G1 game and it was the most fun I have ever had gaming at a Con, primarly because most (though not all) of the people playing were ENWorlders.

and next year G2 will be run right AFTER the con so all that want to play are welcome. Spots are reserved for the folk that came the first time (gotta reward loyalty!) so seating is limited but all are welcome to come watch 13th and 14th level PC's kill giants and see the DM's emotion dice take affect.

I vote for:

1. more chairs
2. a hall to host the awards
3. Theme music
4. a podium
5. Microphones on the podium
6. a picture of each award plastered on the back wall so we can see the product in question.

I had a blast at the ENnies and met allot of people, I am glad i went and look forward to next year ::rolls dice:: The DM is neutral..yes the DM remains calm whilst he contimplates next year and how much fun he will have..remain calm..yes calm..

Thanks for volunteering, Eric!

Actually, I was kind of thinking of something like a semi-official meeting area. If you finish something and want to find someone to do something else with, check that area and see if anyone's around.

I really like Dinkeldog's idea of having an offical or even unofficial EN World meeting place. A place where people can meet to hang out or get together that isn't tied to the EN World gathering night. It would have made it easier to find people and meet up (Hey Dinkeldog!).

An EN World booth would be great, maybe have a list of all the products nominated for the ENies and a map for where to find them in the dealer room. Some of the smaller publishers are tough to find. I know I wouldn't have found "Heroes of High Favor:Dwarves" without directions from Wulf (ok so it wasn't nominated but it is still fairly EN World related).

One other thing, the badges were great to have, but the persons screen name should have been a lot bigger. Though it was kind of funny walking around peering closely at everyone's chest. Though I'm sure this could have made some female board members a little uncomfortable.

I think Morrus would do well to arrange for cameras and sound recording equipment to be there. At least one video camera, but 3 would be great, for good coverage. Sound recording equipment would be very important also. This kind of stuff could be expensive to rent, but I'm sure some stalwart EN World members have access to such equipment, and would like to tape the ceremony.
