Enterprise 01-08-03

Berman and Braga are behind much of Star Trek nowadays. It also seems to many fans that inconsistancies and inaccuracy is what is killing the franchise, not to mention Hollow sotries filled with nonsense. There is a certain lack of depth and weak stories..where as in B5 (for example) most of the story was well thought out before hand.
Enterprise shows some promise ....but they keep dropping the ball for a number of reasons. These small failings appeared in the other series as well.

Next Gen had too many sotries where they rushed the ending or had two stories going at once. Finish a complete script before shooting it eh? Nemisis was decent but bad from the perpective that it was not as grand as it could have been seemed rushed to compete with LOTR Two Towers.

DS9 ...well B5 came along and had a better story line and was consistant.

Voyager......getting home was a cool idea just poorly executed with a weaker captain ... the maquis crew walked all over her in my opinion. Glad to see it gone whew.

Enterprise...consistancy has been the problem. Why does T'pol have normal eyebrows? Actually they have not been too true to the history of Trek and that is really what I have a problem with. If you want specific acoutnings of the Starfleet inconsistancies I can go into allot of detail....or check out the Dewback Wing message board. Where is the political intrigue?
Overall though I like Enterprise..I think Archer is handling situations very well.

I would like to see them persue Riker's new command with a number of people from the other shows. What ever happened to Seek out new worlds and new civilizations? They took out allot of the explorer stuff in these new series.
To boldly go...where no one has gone before? The old series gave you a sense of exploration and despite the fact most aliens still looked Human they felt alien still. (they do not now).

But since some people do the 3B (Brannon Braga Bashing) - Who is Who in startrek? Who is responsible for what?
Rick Berman is the head of the franchise, the successor to the late "Great Bird of the Galaxy" Gene Roddenberry.

Brannon Braga is the show's executive producers of VOY and ENT. Prior to that, he was a gifted screenwriter.

I know from Deep Space Nine:
Producers where Rick Berman and Micheal Piller, the former more responsible for script things...
Executive Producer positions have changed to include Ira Steven Behr, when Michael Piller went to produce VOY. Up until now, Rick Berman did pretty good, IMHO.

But later made a fatal choice: Brannon Braga, who then handle the script thing.

I think this is the same for Voyager and Enterprise, so what is this Brannon Braga guy all about? :)
A former screenwriter who was given the producer's chair by Rick Berman, who then tries to remake everything and ignore continuities established in previous storylines. On VOY he introduced Jeri Ryan as the Borg Babe Seven of Nine, approved script for production that featured her more than the original cast members, then after her divorce is final, he close the deal as her boyfriend.

And is now her husband...not just a boyfriend.

:)
Now I understand why Seven had this horrible make up and clothing - he didn`t want anyone else see her beauty ;)

Anyway, interesting things to know (well, except for the Jeri Ryan Relationship, which wasn`t especially new to me)

And I agree - Berman made a good job, especially with Deep Space Nine.
We`ll see if the Startrek Frachnise will come back to its former quality and success. Maybe they just need a.. creative pause.
How many years were between TOS and TNG? :)

Jeri had creative control over her clothing on the series....she picked them out, after her first season on the show.

I think the War on DS9 was a good idea..it made it interesting.

Voyager had some really great potential but I think they did a number of things wrong and had moments of great creative development of single stories.

I have been a fan of trek since I was 5 ....check out my prop collection (old series stuff shown so far)

If your on yahoo...I would love to dicuss Trek or gaming anytime.

Later,
Darius

I have a question for you guys about something I was curious about in Star Trek: First Contact, and I felt like posting it here since we have so many fine people who seem to know about Star Trek:

What was the name of the song played by Zefram Cochrane in the Phoenix during blast-off? I've heard it before, but I don't know it.

Does anyone know?

P.S. Please don't turn this into a First Contact debate either. I know you're laughing at the idea, but this has happened to me before, so don't laugh. Starting debates from simple questions is not my idea of fun (well, it is, but please don't)

A message from your friendly neighbourhood Mojo.

"Magic Carpet Ride" by Steppenwolf perhaps?
