I'll post my impressions first, then respond to other comments.

This was a pretty good episode, one of the best so far. First the come across the ship with a dead human passenger, and wonder how humans got out so far. Then it gets weird. They learn the ship is bigger inside than outside. They learn the passenger is actually descended from several intelligent species, including, humans, Vulcans, and some that are completely unknown. By this point it's obvious the ship is from the future, and this is confirmed by the appearance of the Suliban. Then the Tholians finally reappear in the ST universe, and appear to be enemies of the Suliban. Along with last week's episode, this one was a pretty refreshing break from some of the banal episodes we've had this season.

That said though, I have to admit that I liked how this particular story was handled. Yeah the Suliban were in there like a dirty shirt, but so were the Tholians! Gotta love those guys. I am not sure that I like their involvement in the TCW but I've had a bit of a soft spot for the Tholians since TOS. Overall the plot made as much sense as any one I've seen so far and had as much continuity as I have come to expect from the series.

I was hoping to see the web, but I wasn't too disappointed. They didn't have time to use it properly I guess -- or maybe haven't even invented it yet. And I was sort of rooting for the Tholians when they were beating the snot out of the Suliban.

Nice nod to Zeframe Cochrane in this episode. But didn't he show up in a TOS episode? I'm sure he did. Oh no...my trek knowledge is fading...TCW altering history...

Yeah he did. But that's in the future. From Archer's and everyone else's perspective, he's still missing in deep space.

I think this is the attittude that I am going to adopt. :)

I'll try to catch this ep again on Sunday night, also, but in the meantime I was wondering about that "How many factions.." thing that myrdden brought up. It seems to me that the Federation of the future is at least one faction in all of this. Hasn't that been established by what's-his-name-future-guy? :)

*edit* Daniels? *end edit*

That's probably the case. Ths ship was likely of Federation origin. The pilot is descended from humans, Vulcan, and presumably very human-like spieces that are members of the Federation. That organic circuitry that was on the hatch I think might have been some 31st century equivalent of Voyager's gel packs. They pull all the evidence into the future, presumbaly out of some sort of temporal prime directive or something. And it makes sense that the Federation of the 31st century would be more interested in preserving history.

After rewatching it yesterday....
Archer only assumes it might be Zef and it is clearly pointed out that he (corpse) is not Zef later in the episode. The Admiral even says something to the effect that Archer may have uncovered an even bigger mystery than what happened to Zefram. They even mention that Daniels said there were voyagers from the future that are studying the past. This was probably one of those. I think they subjectivly showed it was a federation ship from the future as it had a commision date in the future shown in the data base they were lookking at.
After the second time through I found it much better than I thought it was originally.

Hero's? Look what Archer did to save Tripp in that Romulan episode this season ....very well done. They have all done things above and beyond duty.
I do agree though that it is still missing that certain spark or thing to make it special though. I think it has promise but what they do with it we will have to wait and see.

Agreed. One of many heroic acts by Archer. And I believe it was Malcolm who was clamped to the mine on the hull. ;) And I do see potential in this series. It's not special or outstanding yet but I believe it can be if they follow through.

Hoshi acted very Heroically in that one episode, even though it was during her transporter psychosis. :D (At least her heart was in the right place...)

You know.....

The best thing about bringing these old threads up is reading the past conversations about them and trying to remember what I was thinking about at the time. :)
