Enterprise: Does anybody else feel...?

But let's face it....

There hasn't been a *great* space exploration series since "Space 1999"... That programme's rubber monsters had me cowering behind the sofa when I was a kid! *LOL*

Oh an "UFO". Another goodie.

Themes for sci-fi series don't really come better than the one for "Lost in Space". Come to think of it, I *liked* the movie version, and thought the updated theme music for it was excellent.

[All the above IMHO]

The opening theme song is the BEST part of the show...

:D I was just about to say that. I like the song, but gave up on Enterprise after about 5 episode. I didnt actively dislike it (like Voyager), it just didnt really do anything for me.

opening theme

I can understand the desire to make the show a bit more distincive from the others with the theme -- and other decisions, like just calling the show Enterprise instead of Star Trek: Enterprise. But I would have prefered a more "traditional" Star Trek theme. Still, they're trying to reach a new demographic, broaden their fan base so the series can stay alive, and I guess that's a good thing.

Of course I wouldn't expect most long time Star Trek fans to like it since it is different.

Just because they're flying around the galaxy in a crappy spaceship, romancing aliens, being self righteous, and acting lawful stupid, doesn't mean its very different from flying around the galaxy in a fancy spaceship doing the same. The problem with Enterprise is its not different enough. Its more fluffy soap opera garbage.

Firefly can't come soon enough...

I am unclear as to the timeframe, but it occured during the development of the latest Star Trek film. Patrick Stewart is one of the cabal members, Johnathan Frakes is another and most of the cast--past and present--support their efforts to some degree.

I nearly lost it when I first heard the Enterprise theme.

In a good way! All sniffly and proud of the human race and stuff. :) I get weirdly emotional about space exploration, so that danged thing pushed all my buttons. My BF thought I was crazy! :D

Tie me up with the rest of the heathens, 'cause I like it too, Ashtal.

That song carries the echoes of exploration, exhillaration, and all those other fancy "e" words every time I hear it. I even carry a copy in my car. :) They picked a good strong song rather than the orchestral theme that is now hackneyed Star Trek music. I tired of the Orchestral theme music as of 1994! The Enterprise theme song reminds me that before the Federation became the "been there, done that" club, it was out there forging new territory in the spirit of Magellan, Byrd, and Marco Polo.

Too bad the show lost that edge to me after the first six episodes. :) The pilot was fantastic - I quit watching six episodes later because it went downhill quickly.

I wouldn't call ENT a "fluffy soap opera." It would be an insult to the more popular soap opera (both daytime and prime-time) to put ENT in the same category as them.

And you're right. It's not different enough. I knew the moment when they used Klingons crashing into the heartland in the series premiere episode, and the mention of most dreadful word: temporal.

"Temporal" (or time-travel) plus Braga always equals crap. I have seen it on VOY, now this is part of the ENT main story arc.

So far, the only TWO things I like about the show is the opening theme -- which is appropriate for Earth's Starfleet, NOT the Federation's -- and the appearances of Andorians, especially when the main Andorian character is portrayed by the same actor who have been on DS9 as a Ferengi ("Brunt") and a Vorta ("Weyoun").
