From 1984 (when I started) through about 1986 I played and DMed pretty much equally.

From 1987 through 2004 I was DM about 80-90% of the time.

From 2005 to the present I have been exclusively a player.

Aren't there child-labor laws or something to prevent unscrupulous parents from forcing their offspring to DM them?

Until recently, I had DM'd for 15 years straight. I finally told the group that someone else is going to have to run as I was burned out. I'm now in my second year as a player, and we've just started a second campaign run by a second DM. I'm enjoying my time as a player.

However, I think I'll have to take over the reigns again soon. Ravenloft is calling me.

Ever since I started playing I have been the DM.
As of two weeks ago I wrapped up the last running game I had going and I am playing in two other games that members of my gaming group are running.
I imagine I will DM again in a few months but right now I am gonna enjoy the break and play awhile.

I submit that it is not possible to have more people who mostly DM than those who mostly play. You only need 1 DM, and most groups have at least 4 players, many times more than that.

If this poll shows 2 to 1 in favor od mostly DM then that can only mean that EN World isn't so much a player hangout.

I think that's been the assumption since early on, based on the types of discussions that seem to flourish on these boards.

I'm currently only playing, but if you look at my history, I do both about equally.

I run three games and play in two. The two I'm playing in are the first two I've had a chance to play in (other than pick-up games) in about two years.
