Hmm there are 7 people in our group and we all take turns at running games, some folks don't run for particularly long however. So statistically I currently GM 14% of the time and Play 86% of the time, but actually I probably DM about 20% of the time, if not more.

Still that only counts table time, if I included time I've worked of stuff for games (sometimes I've not even got to run in the end) as GM'ing time then I easily spend 95%+ as a GM and virtually nothing as a player.

Ethier way I don't think this is a particularly informative poll since the DM and PLAY option only applies to people with a 50/50 split and the other two options cover folks that Play 100% to 51% of the time, or DM 100% to 51% of the time. So I'm voting other.

In the early '80s I mostly played. Then I mostly GM'd until around 1990 or so. Then I dropped out of gaming for over ten years. When I got into D&D again three + years ago I was too rusty to GM, so I was exclusively a player for awhile. Now I'm turning into a GM again.

Wow, mostly DM's around here. By a whole pile. What happened to that huge DM shortage I keep hearing about?

Just as a question to those who say that they haven't been able to play much or at all, have you tried programs like OpenRPG or Fantasy Grounds? It's certainly better to play online than to not play at all.
