Epic Monk Prestige Classes (?)

I suppose I could just petition my DM for a Half-Celestial template earned starting after 20th level - it's a great logical fit.

I worked this up based on the Half-Fiend presented by WotC's "Savage Progression" by Sean K Reynolds:

No increase in Hit Dice, base attack bonus, base saving throw bonuses, skill points, ability point increases or feats with level.

Lvl 1: Con +2, Cha +2, darkvision 60', outsider type, natural AC +1, spell-like abilities

Lvl 2: Str +2, Dex +2, Wis +2, immune to disease, Resistance to acid 5, cold 5, and electricity 5, SR = Character Level, spell-like abilities, +2 Fort Saves vs. poison

Lvl 3: Con +2, Cha +2, smite evil (su) 1/day(dam = HD , max 20), daylight(sp) at will, DR 5/magic up to 11th level, then DR 10/magic,spell-like abilities, +4 Fort Saves vs. poison (replaces the +2 above)

Lvl 4: Str +2, Int +2, Wis +2, Resistance to acid 10, cold 10, and electricity 10, SR = Character Level + 10, spell-like abilities, wings (fly at 2x base speed)

Spell-like Abilities:
Caster level = HD, Save DC Charisma-based

Half-Celestial Level 1:

1st lvl: Protection from Evil 3/day, Bless 1/day
7th lvl: Holy Smite 1/day, Remove Disease 1/day
13th lvl: Hallow 1/day

Half-Celestial Level 2:

3rd lvl: Aid 1/day, detect evil 1/day
6th lvl: Cure serious wounds 1/day, neutralize poison 1/day
13th lvl: Holy Aura 3/day

Half-Celestial Level 3:

9th lvl: Dispel Evil 1/day
15th lvl: Mass charm monster 1/day
17th lvl: Summon monster IX (celestials only) 1/day

Half-Celestial Level 4:

11th lvl: Holy word 1/day
19th lvl: Resurrection 1/day

I would suggest Dragon Disciple. It will give you fly eventually, good Strength improvement (increase to damage and attack bonus), breath weapon, and some more spells. Prerequisites are: Knowledge (Arcana) rank 8, Draconic language, and the ability to cast arcane spells without preparation (1 level in Bard or Sorcerer). It's good for combat, and not bad outside combat.

Taking non-epic Fighter levels (Fighter 1st -> 20th) will only give you access to standard Fighter feats. You definitely can't take Epic feats with this. Epic Monk is your best bet if you want more Epic Feats than 1/3 levels.

Just my thoughts ...

I considered and rejected Dragon Disciple - too far off my character concept.

Epic Monk gets feats at 1/5 levels - the slowest of any class. Epic fighter gets 1/2 levels.

But Half-Celestial may be the way to go, if my DM approves. He's trying to stay away from anything not published for 3.5, so he may not allow it.

Is your Monk an Aasimaar? If so you can get Celestieal bloodlines which leads to wings of the outsider. Gives you Angel Wings (or Bat wings for a Tiefling) with average manuverability. Its in the Races of Faerun book.

I think the point was that you don't get epic feats with fighter levels until you are an epic fighter, i.e. 21rst level in that class. Taking 1rst level fighter at 21rst character level gets you only a non-epic feat.

Personally, my own VoP monk will be moving into divine spellcasting classes, though that's more for roleplaying reasons (he was a 2E monk first) than anything else.

Got it. Of course. My mistake. Just as well, it was kind of weird to go that way anyway.

1. Nope - human.

2. Anything Faerun is out. Good suggestion, though.
