Epic Prestige question

ControlFreak

First Post
Yeah yeah .. I know the book is barely out .. but I was looking at the web enhancement and had a question. I have a player in my game who is a Wizard 5, Elemental Savant 9, and I'm guessing that he'd be interested in becoming a Wiz5/Ele11 at some point .. so my question is whether someone needs to actually be 20th level before they can take that Elemental Savant 11th level?

I'd say no, you can become a wiz5/ele11. Obviously, the ELH might say otherwise I don't have it or anything, but I don't see why it would be otherwise.

You must be epic level before you can take a 10 level prestige class above 10th level. I can already see a flaw in not allowing it, however. One of players has that flaw. Technically, he can never level beyond 19th. But then again, he's a paladin, so he deserves whatever screwing over he gets. ;)

I don't have my books with me - is it possible to have a situation where a Paladin becomes a Warpriest at say, 9th level?

Or any situation where this type of dual-stopper occurs.

Rather amusing, I think :-)

It's possible. The player I referred to in my post is a mutliclass Paladin/Ranger/Knight of the Chalice. When he hits 19th level, he can no longer level his KotC PrC because he'll be 10th level in it already (maxed until he's epic level), and he can no longer level his paladin because he strayed from it and became a Ranger, and he can no longer level his Ranger because he would then lose all benefits of being a Knight of the Chalice. Pretty funny how it worked out actually.

Well... He can level as a ranger, he just gets screwed by it.

I already said that, but thanks anyway. :D

In fact, he can level as just about any class he is qualified for.

Goes without saying, though he's screwed no matter what he does.

But you also said in another paragraph that he COULDN'T level. I was just pointing out your inconsitencies. (Why yes, I have very little time on my hands, why do you ask? :) )

Another thing that got me thinking is what if some idiot of an elf tried

rogue 4 / fighter 6 / cleric 8 / sorcerer 10

And then proceeded to take a level of psion.

Of course, he'd only have himself to blame...

Sure, why not? It dosen't add some horrendously powerful new abilities. The only thing is that for the bonus feats you are not likely going to be allowed (or maybe even able) to take Epic feats.
