Epic Spell Help

Otterscrubber

First Post
Ok, first off I'll apologize as this has probably been posted somewhere on these forums and I'm just too lazy to look but I'm wondering if anyone has crafted an epic spell that would transform a human into a half-celestial template. Current character is a 23rd level Sorcerer, human with no current epic items. Not sure if that would make a difference or not. Just have a sorcerer in a campaign world where this is looking like a good way to make him a solid hitter in the campaign and still balance a bit of power gamin with the story arc we have going. Thanks for any input.

Well, let's see. You'd need the following seeds.
Transform: to change the type
Fortify: to give the ability boosts
More Fortify: to give the Damage Reduction
Even More Fortify: To give spell resistance
And That's When I Shot Him, Your Honor: To give the Natural Armor
Not Done Fortifying: To give the Energy Resistances
Are We Fortified Yet?: To give the bonus to fort saves re: poison
Heal: to provide the immunity to disease
Transform again: to provide the wings
You're on your own for darkvision, spell like abilities, smite evil, and so on.

And of course, it'll have to be made permanent. And maybe you'll get lucky and all that fortification can go under one use of the seed, so you don't have to keep jacking up the spellcraft DC by 17+ over and over again.

Isn't this the sort of thing that would be better done by creating a Prestige Class? How did Sepulchrave do it for Eadric?

Fortunately, Transform is (by default) Permanent, and the question was phrased for turning applying the template (very clearly a case of Transformation) so you can use Transform, rather than Fortify, as the base seed for the duration (in theory, anyway).

Darkvision is a special quality, so you can get it from Transform (as you can all the other Half-celestial special qualities). Daylight and Smite Evil are Su, so can be gained through Transform.

The spell-like abilities aren't available by default with any of the Epic seeds (except Conjure, but only in the context of creating a new creature, which isn't helpful here). You'll need something in the way of DM Ad-hock abilities here.

Ya, i'm getting back to D&D after a long break. Got the epic rules, but not so experienced with buildling epic spells from the seeds, especially if they involve complicated applications of them. To reply to previous poster, one of the major benefits would be acquiring the spell like abilities of the template, which is what I'm having a hard time crafting using the seeds as written. The whole epic spell process does break down a bit when you head in this direction but that's why we have DMs to make those calls I suppose. Was hoping to achieve some nice formula using the existing system but looks like I'll have to make this similar to the way magic items were made in 2e :) Hopefully my DM is game for some ad hoc'ing.
