[Epic] The Dreamers' Seal

electric-ant

First Post
Darkness.

Existence, but in half-consciousness. Aware, but not awake.

Darkness, interminably.

Suddenly a point of light pierces the quiet darkness. It shines brilliantly, rapidly growing to a terrible size until you are nearly blinded by the stabbing light. It just as quickly falls, and before you a hazy illuminated figure of a man appears, just out of focus.

The human silhouette flickers. A huge voice, somehow diminished, echoes from the shape across the darkness.

“Help……”

The radiant silhouette flickers again and nearly fails, but instead begins shrinking into a curved shape.

“……me….”

The light forms into a crescent moon. It flickers.

There is a massive boom, as if a tremendous stone block has suddenly been dropped through the darkness, striking some unseen barrier.

The light flickers again.

A second noise, like thunder sounding over a mountain-peak.

The light flickers. It fades.

A third crash, and you are wrenched from your millennial sleep into the waking world.

Seven sarcophagi lie flat in a giant underground hall. Arching walls and an impossibly high ceiling enclose three dozen colossal canine statues evenly spaced around the sides. A massive door stands open.

The sarcophagi are spaced equidistant around a six-foot tall pedestal, upon which a shattered crystalline orb sits. A diminutive man lies about twenty feet away, blown clear across the room by the explosion which must have destroyed the orb. He is dead, and wisps of smoke curl upward from his blackened hands, as well as from the broken orb and the dozens of fallen crystal shards.

Meanwhile, a dark man in a green tabard embossed with a gold gauntlet, and a dwarf warrior in shining plate-mail are pressed against a wall by a trio of massive, snarling wolves with blood-matted fur and vicious teeth - brachyuruses. The pair does not seem as if they will be able to hold out much longer against the wolves, despite furiously flashing spells and flying blades.

Each of you lies about forty feet away in an open sarcophagus.

[So, to make things easier, this is how I want you to post. After your actions and such, at the bottom of your post include all relevant modifiers for any skill rolls, attack rolls, or whatever might be called for while performing your actions. In addition, include your current armor class, touch armor class, any conditional armor, such as displacement or blinking, and your saving throws.]

Leaping out of his resting place, the great hero Drago looks at the wolves attacking the two men.
"LEAVE THEM BE AND FACE ME IF YOU WANT A CHALLENGE, FOUL DOGS!" The seven foot tall man boomed, rushing over in a burst of speed belying his huge frame to kick one of the beasts away.

OOC:
Tumble check (+41) to attempt to get to feet as a free action. (Failure makes it a Move Equivalent).
Then use Tongue of the Sun and Moon to actually get the wolves to understand me (Can speak with any living creature). If I made my tumble check, charge one of the beasts (+47 to hit, 1d20+19 damage, +2d6 if they're Evil, can get through DR of up to +7.)

An old elf in lavish white robe looks out of one of the sarcophagi’s, assesses the situation, and starts casting a spell. When he's done he jumps out of the sarcophagi, so it is between him and the fight, and takes cover. He casts another spell, and he's suddenly standing near the pedestal.

OOC:
Cast Haste on self.
Hide (+25) behind the sarcophagi.
Cast project image as partial action, Will DC 32 to disbelief, if interacted with.

Init +12
Current HP: 271
AC 36, touch 23. (Cover not included)
Fort +19, Ref +23 (plus cover), Will +24

Merriss blinks twice...the room being in such a haze he almost doesn't gain his bearings in a reasonable amount of time. He realizes that someone is in danger and, as he has done so many times in the past, it is his job to help rescue them.

Stepping gingerly out of the sarcophagus, the dust falling from his form, he scans the room quickly and notes the locations of his allies and enemies. Mighty Drago was charging the foe head on, as he was apt to do, and woe to those who stood in his way. Without even realizing it, Merriss' spell trigger ignited, causing four spells of protection lighting his being at once.

I must aid Drago the best I can he thought to himself.

Fingers worked feverishly and the old magic he new so well came back to his aged hands as the wizard dove into his mind and pulled forth great spells.

OOC:
Simbul's Spell Trigger triggered...Cast Arcane Parry, Haste, Shield, Fly (all extended) (free action)

Fly up and toward Drago so that I am at most 30' away (move-equivalent)
Mantle of Egregrious Might (Reached)...Cast on Drago (+4 luck bonus to AC, Attacks, saves, and all ability scores) (standard action)

Summon Monster IX (Twinned)...Cast near the dwarf and man to aid with the brachyureses (Lammasu)

All three brachyuruses spin around at Drago's challenge. One growls in a deep, rumbling tone. "These are the dreamers, fools. There is nothing left to protect."

The other two, however, ignore the first. One pounces to a nearby row of statues and bats at one, shaped identically to the living brachyuruses, with its claw.

The statue ripples, and then begins to slowly move, as if it were shaking off a terrible blow to the head. The statue seems to melt, and the stone changes color to a matted white-red. It snarls, and roars. Despite the terrible howl, none of you are affected, though the two intruders start quivering and slowly back up against the wall.

Drago charges the third original brachyurus, landing for 38 points of damage. The brachyurus claws twice back at him, drawing a terrible gash across Drago's chest, dealing 33 points of damage. It grabs at his throat, missing but still leaving a wound across Drago's arm, for another 15 points.

Ricamros slides into a protected position behind his sarcophagus stealthily, while an image of himself appears to get up and stand in front of it.

Meriss calls into being a pair of lammasu, who immediately pounce upon one of the brachyuruses. The first is dodged entirely, while the second manages to catch a descending hind claw upon it for 6 points of damage.

Sulli fires five arrows at the second brachyurus, all of which strike home. Combined, a total of 89 points of damage is dealt.

Jariwyn senses evil from two of the brachyuruses. There are four brachyuruses. One is growling menacingly, but not attacking (the first to speak). It does not detect as evil, and is currently unwounded. The second, which clawed the statue, is evil, and is badly wounded from Sulli and the lammasu's attack. The third, which Drago charged, is mildly wounded. The fourth, which was the statue, is unwounded.

Ricamros casts ball lightning through his illusionary image, and sends everything at the brachyurus that's fighting Drago. Then through the image a meteor swarm towards the newcomer, before Jariwyn gets there.

OOC:
Ball lightning, 15d6 electricity damage, Reflex for half DC 31.

Cast meteor swarm as partial action, if Jariwyn is not in the line of fire. If possible tries to get the other brachyurus into lof, while hitting the one next to it, if he hits it takes 24d6 fire damage (no save). Ricamros uses the small 20' box pattern, 8 spheres each 3d6 fire damage, Reflex for half DC 35.
