Epic Tier: Breaking walls at will

Stalker0

Legend
This isn't a question, its just information for those who may not be aware.

One thing about 4e is that ability checks also increase with half your level. Which means a 22nd level character for example has a +11 bonus to his strength checks.

Combined with a high strength, he can have a very high strength DC.

If you note the break DCs on a lot of walls, you start getting into the ballpark where a high check can bust right through them.

So yes a high level barbarian can smash right through walls. Now that's epic!

The terrain features section of the DMG2 recommends using +1/2 encounter level for DCs and the like.

Regardless, you can always use your dagger to rip apart that steel wall.

At Heroic level that wall is the side of a straw hut, or an earthen wall in a tunnel.

At Paragon the wall is carefully cut stonework, so well crafted that you can barely get the tip of a knife between the blocks. The Egyptians would be proud to have made it.

At Epic the wall is a solid block of stone cast by magic or tunnelled from the mass of a mountain, with a backing of adamantine plates or lava flowing within it.

They might even kill them. It was caught on film I believe...
