Epic: Where do I go from here?

Hey all,

I'm in a campaign which I expect will go into epic levels fairly soon. I'm playing a Sorcerer 14/Archmage 2. I'll finish Archmage at level 19. So, where do I go from there?

My current feats:
Empower Spell
Chain Spell
Spell Focus (Illusion and Necromancy)
Greater Spell Focus (Necromancy)
Skill Focus(Spellcraft)
Spellcasting Prodigy

Also, I'm a LG professor at a university. I teach arcane ethics.

So, thoughts?

For classes or for feats? There's that Epic feat in the DMG that lessens Metamagic costs by 1. And another that gives you more spell slots, up to current max level +1.

For PrCs, take a look through Complete Arcane. Fatespinner and Initiative of the Sevenfold Veil are nice, but there's lots of good stuff there. Blood Magus is pretty cool.

Well, feat suggestions are definitely welcome, but it's my next class with which I'm really baffled. Making metamagic cheaper in the game I'm in is not as good as normal, since anyone can spontaneously use metamagic without increasing the level. You take subdual damage = double the level increase. (It's not how I would do it, mind you, but I'm not the DM).

You need Leadership so you can have a loyal grad student to do all your work, and a bevy of co-eds to follow you around and be impressed with your scholarship. :)

More seriously: Do you qualify for Loremaster? That could be very appropriate.

Good call, I considered that for my initial build but had since forgotten all about it. I can easily qualify for that by level 19. Thanks!

As for Loremaster, I'm not so sure... :D

If you're a planar sort of person and your GM is willing to let you go Exalted, there's that one caster class in the Book of Exalted Deeds that involves the seven heavens, I suppose -- the Celestial Mystic. What with you teaching arcane ethics, this seems possibly up your alley.

Loremaster (besides being emminently thematic) is a pretty good choice, even if the entry requirements are a little steep for a sorcerer - it requires three metamagic or item creation feats (which, as a sorceror, you may want anyway), but one Skill Focus(Knoweledge(Any)) (probably want to go with Arcana). The skill requirements are slightly tricky, but when you picked up Archmage, Knowledge(All) was added to your class list; a crash project on something other than Knowledge(Arcane) should be simple enough. The divination spells may be a big limitation, but only one of them needs to be over 3rd - the other six can be 2nd, 1st, or even possibly cantrips if need be. The benefits, though.... It's got full spell progression (and for a Sorceror, spell progression is very nearly the only progression in the class); it gets lots of nifties (Secrets every other level, Greater Lore at 6th (free Identify! AND IT'S (EX))), as well as a full bonus progression (every 3rd level) once it reaches epic levels.

Bloody hell!

Don't forget Shapechange. Turn into, say, a Vampire... take on the Undead type, with the consequent immunity to non-lethal damage... and let rip with Maximized, Empowered, Admixed spells for no cost!

Yeah, it's probably what I'll do. (I was kidding when I said I wasn't so sure... sort of a play on words, to make it seem like I was talking about Loremaster, but then the phrase in question showed that I was talking about the Leadership idea all long! Anyway, sorry.)

The knowledge shouldn't be a problem. I (obviously) have Knowledge(Arcane) at max, and I have Knowledge(Arcane Ethics) at a decent level (6+). And, as it stands now, I have 5 divination spells, at least one of which is 3rd level or higher. So I'll just have to a bit of shuffling.

Once I reach epic spellcaster, I want to create a spell or ritual that turns me into a dragon somehow. I have silver dragon blood pretty close to me in my lineage (my great-grandmother was a silver dragon), so I think it would be neat to make a spell that allows me to turn into a silver dragon, complete with abilities. :)

Thanks for the input!

Heh, it's funny that you should mention that, but I have a spell called Troll's Blood from S&S Hallowfaust. It gives me Regen 3/acid or fire, as a troll. I cast that and become immune to subdual damage. Hello free metamagic!

EDIT: Oh, and it gets more expensive the more you string together. So, to do an Empowered, Maximized, Admixed something would be (2+3+4)*(1+3(1 for each metamagic applied)) = 10*4 = 40 points of subdual. As opposed to 4+6+8 = 18.
