A SPOILER TAG? What the heck? The guy should put a -spoiler tag- because he has some (and very few, at that) political views in his blog? You do realize this is the same world in which FOX news is "fair and balanced", right?

Gimme a break. PCness crossed the lines years ago, and people are still pushing it.

I really, really, really don't think that what I've posted is contraversial in the least, but I guess everyone looks at politics from a different point of view.

Any serious recommendation to read Noam Chomsky seems pretty contraversial to anyone to the right of... well, Noam Chomsky. :p

I'm to the right of Noam Chomsky.

I suggested reading his book, not basing your life around it.

But let's take specific comments about the non-gaming posts to my blog, where they belong. It was not my intention to pull the discussion off topic.

Thanks!

Seriously this time, just read your first post. I had no idea you were behind the ethergaunt. I've always liked them, but considered them just a little too... well you said it best.... esoteric to want to do a whole lot with them. Now you've made me want to look at them again and put together a Dungeon adventure proposal that features them.

Nope, I'm not sucking up to the editor. Not at all.

In the mean-time, I do still have that kaorti adventure proposal under consideration.

*Me runs away now before Erik fireballs me for that.*

I don't know much about blogs, but what I've always assumed is that they were there for the writer to pretty much post whatever it is he or she felt like talking about, as opposed to dedicated websites devoted to only one subject. It strikes me as redundant for someone to have to say that their blog covers a wide range of topics.

I can sympathize with what Erik's doing. A blog is a place you can talk about your personal views and that's part of the fun of doing one. When I started my blog, it was specifically because I wanted a place where I could talk about whatever without it being seen as an official Green Ronin statement. I do talk about gaming and the game industry sometimes, but I also talk abut books, movies, random happenings, and the dreaded politics. I thought I was very clear that this was my personal blog. Nonetheless, about six months ago a retailer friend of mine tells me that some of his customers stopped buying GR products because of the political views expressed on my blog. Never mind that Green Ronin has seven staff people and not all of them share my politics. Never mind that we employ dozens and dozens of freelancers, some of whom I know (through their own blogs) have politics that are the polar opposite of mine. Such is the nature of the internet and such are the pitfalls of having a public persona.

Well, a public persona that is using that publicity to put comments out there...

But, I'm not up on Blog-stuff, wouldn't it make sense to somewhat compartmentalize subjects?
"posted new stuff to Politics" for instance.
Granted, I'm not sure of the difference between a regular personal website and a "Blog".

Really I don't care to read about politics, for the same reason it's not allowed on the board. Rarely will someone's personal opinion help in a subjective thing such as politics.
