ESSENTIAL X-MEN Trade Paperbacks?

Psychotic Dreamer

First Post
I have heard alot about the Essential X-Men TPB's and they sound interesting and I am considering trying to get my hands on them. One thing I had heard that I wanted to clear up before I did actually try and get them though. I have heard that they were reprinted in B&W? Is this true? If so that makes me less likely to get them becasue superheroes need to be in color for me. I can enjoy other types of comic books done in black and white, but superheroes really need color for me.

Thanks.

the ESSENTIAL series of trade paperbacks is marvels inexpensive way to let fans read the older stories.

usually about 25 issues per book. IN BLACK AND WHITE. for 14.95.

still a good deal

but my take is: if the book was originally in black and white, i want to read it in black and white. if it was originally in color, i want to read it in color.

so i would rather buy the 10 issues per book, 50.00 hardcover MARVEL MASTERWORKS.

the problem sets in that the MASTERWORKS series doesnt cover as much ground as the ESSENTIALS because its only 10 issues per book.

Yep. All The Essentials, including The Essential X-Men, are in black and white. They retail for $14.95 and collect about 20 issues. Marvel also puts out Marvel Masterworks, which are hardcover, color versions of The Essentials (they have fewer issues per volume, as well). The Masterworks are about $50 each.

Yep, I work in a comic store.
