Essentials and Darksun

I lie Essentials and I like darksun. Would like our next campaign (If we ever complete the current...) to be these elements. Im talking essentials only, still discussing with our group, and I wont be DM'ing (yay!), so it is the group and the incomings DM's call, but we will see. (p.s. our groups pretty casual, and in truth, most are overwhelmed by the scope of the existing ruleset, meaning the DM takes up the "technical slack", hence why essentials is just better for our group)

Thing Im not fond of so far is that what they have done for essentials : we have 2 leaders...one of which is divine, and two tanks...one of which is divine.

Leave that be. To my question.

Is it too much of a stretch to say that Earth and Sun warpriests are appropriate for darksun. If you leave off an actual deity, thematically these two realms are actually highly appropriate.

So, opinion, is it feasible to allow warpriest of these two domains? Is it feasible to have these particular domain warpriests in Darksun?

Darksun 2E had clerics, they just worshipped and drew power from elementals lords, not deities.

I see no problem whatsoever with changing fluff, and in essentials, you really need clerics as it lacks the other options for leader types, at least most of them.

I say go for it.

2e darken had clerics because they had no other choice. Clerics were the de-facto healers. They they came up with a kludge fix by making them elemental priests. I'm on my phone or I'd look for where hey said that.

That aside. Re-fluffing some of the new essentials clerics to be primal sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Hopefully your DM will agree.

But isn't it in the spirit of Essentials to have your choice restricted to one leader? *rimshot*

I think the Storm domain warpriest makes a perfect elemental cleric already--combine with the Elemental Priest theme and he'd fit right in.

I would advocate for allowing Essentials and "traditional" characters side-by-side. If someone wants the added complexity, why shouldn't they have it?

Also, more leaders. ;)

But yeah, Sun and Earth sound like fine DS domains.

I think essentials and dark sun look like they fit about as well as 2e and dark sun did. Ie quite a bit worse than 4e "classic".

My suggestion would be to open for all classes, and use the Rules Compendium and Monster Vault for the DM side of things. I haven't tried an essential class or seen one in play, but wouldn't the major difference be how the player interacts with his character, and not how the character interacts with the world? Let each player decide how he wants to play it.
